Cutting foam

To cut a very long story short I've finally got my self a peli case for 2 shotguns broken down.

Can any one give me tips or equipment to cut the foam neatly , I've already got craft knives, hobby drill and lots of sharp kitchen knives at my disposal, I've been told an electric bread knife is good at the job but in not wanting to spend any more money on a utensil that I will use once.

So advice and tips on what to use and how to do it would be appreciated :)

I used my die grinder and a flat wheel and it looked like it came from the factory, I made the 4 gun slots for my cabinet and they look and do the job spot on! and I delivered my aya to a bloke off here and I literally placed the stock etc on the foam, draw round it with a marker then using a flat wheel and grinder just cut it out.

get a piece of wire, thin single strand, Bend it like a bow, with a cane or plastic, (Depends on width etc) connect a car charger to it, it will glow, pass it through the foam, you will be amazed how it cuts, try it.. I have a small Bow and a large BOW..

A professional method of this system is commonly employed commercially.:good:

Hot wire cutter is easy to make and makes an excellent job. Using a template of thin ply or even stiff cardboard and a battery charger - for a thin stainless (high resistance) wire a guitar string works well. You will need a bit of spring in the bow as the wire will stretch as it gets hot.
