kyska
It's it alright to do door knocking on a Sunday. Or is it a bit of a faux pas?? Just wondering It wouldn't bother me to much, if they are dairy farms you'll always catch someone morning and afternoon outside. TBH, I'm normally at the pub sunday pm, theres always the chance you'll meet a 'happy drunk' landowner.

Zx12rash
As in. They say they have a game syndicate that takes care of their shooting
TIGHTCHOKE
As in. They say they have a game syndicate that takes care of their shooting Oh well, that paints a different picture! I think it's a little uncharitable to state they are getting in the way, they are paying for their shooting.
Zx12rash
Well. They are getting in the way of my success I'm sure something will turn up. I'll hit the pub next Sunday.
leadbreakfast
You need to get known in the shooting scene not many will say yes and let a stranger they don't know on there land. Think of the bigger picture and get in with them ie offer or ask to beat for them. That way you will get to know them more and after you know all the shooters/ keepers/ farmers it becomes a lot easier to get permision. toontastic
As in. They say they have a game syndicate that takes care of their shooting Contact the syndicates and see if they need any help with beating, may be a foot in the door. BRNDL
I didn't have any success door knocking. Get beating on a shoot, you won't look back. It's like a golden ticket, believe me, I was in your shoes only 2 weeks ago. Now I have 2 farms to shoot and my original 18acre permission. Hey humm looks like another Saturday driving around and knocking on doors get around all the stable especially those that sell feed, garden centers, vets etc and stick one of your cards on there display boards/window, think outside of the box, I picked up permission in a large house that holds weddings etc, large grounds for wedding pictures plagued with rabbits from a card in the stable/horse feed shop
Frenchieboy
Unfortunately Zx12rash you are going through what i suspect that 90% (Or more) of us went through when we first started shooting. Do not be discouraged, keep knocking on doors and eventually something will turn up and you will be over the moon about it, just as has happened (Eventually) for many other members on here. As for knocking on farmers doors on a Sunday I wouldn't have a problem with that but I personally would restrict it to Sunday Mornings and leave them in peace on Sunday Afternoons - But that really is just my opinion. With regards to sindicates having the shooting rights, what we all have to remember is that they are paying for that pleasure and contributing to the land owners hard earned income, and after all farming is a business and as such farmers need to make whatever money they can out of their land, we are asking for free shooting so take a lower step on the ladder than sindicate shoots do. Good luck with your quest! p.s. What area are you from, if you show that (Either on this thread or on your profile) you might even get a member local to you that is willing to take you out to get a bit of shooting under your belt! Zx12rash
I live in Nottingham. I hear the area is pretty difficult to get established. I moved up from Devon where I had a few spots. I wouldn't mind so much but I need somewhere to shoot my rimmy. So I'm trying to find anything just to get my foot on the ladder so a cleared bit of land may become available to me.
filzee
I did say a while ago that i would take you out after a few pigeons which i will do but just don't have the time to do it at the minute and if im honest there ain't that many birds about at the minute. It is very difficult especially in Nottingham. There doesn't actually seem to be that much land available and what is around is all owned by the same people. I was lucky as my best mates dad is a farmer so instantly got access to 300 acres there and from beating and getting my name around for keeping on top of the pigeons on that 300 i'v managed to pick up around 2000 acres but its taken 12 years. I never had to knock on a door as all the land round where i shoot is owned by the same 3 farmers. Beating is always a great option. Some farmers (most farmers) are a strange bunch and if they don't know you they are often quite wary of letting you on their land especially with a gun. Try to get in with one and more will come. Village pubs can be good too. Don't let it get you down mate. Regards to the rimmy try some golf courses if you have an open ticket or he lands been cleared as long as your sensible most are happy for someone to control the rabbits there especially for free.
