rimmie
*shot Hi all, I have a browning 425 grade 5, I have looked at the markings and can't see a fler de lis (spelling) symbol. The chokes do give the amount of choke for lead and steel, so does yay mean it's proofed ? Edited October 27, 2013 by rimmie
poontang
It's not proofed for high performance steel loads. You can however use standard 2 3/4" steel loads (#4 shot and smaller) through the gun. Stick to 1/2 choke or less and you should be fine. derbyduck
well I dont know if it means anything but the two square lugs that are in your photo are engraved with the flur de leys (three feathers ) all the best DD..

Decorative only, your gun has 2 3/4" chambers 3" are required for HP Steel so no it is not HP steel proof as suggested you can still shoot none HP steel loads through 1/2 or 1/4 choke
sitsinhedges
My 20 gauge O/U which is steel proofed has the fleur de lys proof mark and also has the words steel proof stamped on the barrels.
motty
I'm not sure my Browning Gold 10 is proofed for steel - I can't see a fleur de lys on it. I have put many good steel loads through it, including some Gamebore Rhino BBs this morning.

I have put many good steel loads through it, including some Gamebore Rhino BBs this morning. I dont think there is a steel proof for 10s. My Remington 11-87 is not proofed for steel and it gets use for all 3" steel.
