kent
Break barrel springer of some description. which depends a lot on his size and strength, look at a nice second hand HW perhaps? if he has the size to him. BSA lightnings are tempting but hard to shoot well without a stack of work. Nothing in multishot due to safety drills and PCP will get too pricey once your done with all the bits
Zetter
HW30 would fit the bill nicely

aga man
won't go far wrong with one of these im my opinion. nice and light and easy to cock for him. he will probably pass it on to his son one day too http://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/product/114bbdac0e15dc6265502341/BSA+Meteor+MK7/

shootinfishin
I'd say HW77k if he is quite strong Or HW30 if not. My first ever gun was a BSA Meteor, nice and light but not a great hunting air rifle
garden gun
Gamo Whisper X, old style double spring - dead easy to cock, built in moderator. New ones are gas ram. Mrs gun has one - squizzers are not too happy about that!!!!

j-c
Younger sibling shoots a .22 BSA Lightning and gets on really well with it. Great looking gun and seems well put together so far.
steve_b_wales
Take a look at the Hatsan junior air rifles. They are excellent value for money.
RJS1982
When I was 11 I was lucky enough to be given a HW50. Had it for 20 years and still going strong. I started off plinking in the garden then progressed to vermin with a scope a couple of years later. Can't recommend it strongly enough.
