Matty7247
I'm looking at buying a Cabella's 4-1 Wildfowling jacket. Does anyone have any reviews on buying from America? Also, what do their sizes go on? I normally wear a 2XL shooting jacket if that helps? Cheers all.
oxfordfowler
Bought a dry plus 4 - 1 jacket last year from Cabella's. So far so good, can't fault it waterproof, warm and comfortable. There are sites that give size comparisons if you google. If I wasn't sat here well fed and with my slippers on I'd pop out to the shed and check the size of mine for you (jacket that is) . Best to let your bank/card company know you are buying from the States as there can be issues if they decide that this purchase does not fit your usual activity - so they block the transaction. Anti fraud measure as I found out last year - easily sorted. Go for it. Edited December 1, 2013 by oxfordfowler
Matty7247
Brilliant, Bushwear also sell one I'm looking at. Thank for the reply OxfordFowler. :-)
Big Mat
I got one from them last year, arrived in 7 days with no hassle at all as you can pay all taxes etc as part of the bill. I've got a 3xl jacket, i'd say the sizes are pretty accurate. Very good jackets in my opinions, mine has stood up to some serious abuse. Matty7247
I'm normally a 46inch chest? So I'm not sure if to go for a 2XL or 3XL?
Big Mat
Going by their size chart, XL, go for what size you normally wear and i dont think you'll be far off
Matty7247
Thanks mate, I've looked at Bushwears size guide and they say 2xl? I don't mind a slightly bigger jacket, knowing it has a nice liner. :-) Again, thanks for the reply mate.
Grandalf
I have a Brush Buster jacket from Cabellas. Super piece of kit. In its third season. No problem with delivery etc. Paid the white van man the customs duty as per the paperwork. Sizes tend to be a bit smaller than one would expect in UK. Matty7247
Just ordered the Dry-Plus 4-1. Still nearly £100 cheaper than a british company. Grandalf, how much does it cost for cusoms if you dont mind me asking?
Catamong
I bought a lovely jacket from Cabellas a few years back, very warm, can only wear it in the coldest weather. However, it took 6 weeks to arrive, I then had to pay a Royal Mail "Handling Fee", plus import duty and VAT on it.. Cat.
Grandalf
Just ordered the Dry-Plus 4-1. Still nearly £100 cheaper than a british company. Grandalf, how much does it cost for cusoms if you dont mind me asking? From memory - It was three years ago - about £60. The jacket was about £250 in total. Expensive but it is a superb piece of kit. Always been warm and dry in it.
Big Mat
You can pay all the taxes, import duty etc etc on the cabelas website as part of the ordering process. The goods then will go directly to your house without being detained by customs.
Matty7247
I did pay duty and taxs etc, plus shipping fees on top of what I paid for the jacket? I was told that I'd have to pay UK tax? Said about 7-14 days delivery? With DHL which isn't to bad if they are right. :-)
Big Mat
If you paid all the taxes etc with the option on their website, then it should just be delivered straight to your door with no problems.
Matty7247
Yeah, it says in my receipt shipping cost and Duties & Taxes paid? So I'm guessing then that's it all sorted? :-)
Big Mat
Yeah that should be, sit back and wait for the delivery! Cabelas gear is very good, my jacket takes some serious abuse and holds up well
Matty7247
I took a while to find something I actually wanted, had Deerhunter and that leaked, I have a Ridgeline, although basic it's pretty good. But wanted something that would last! :-)
Matty7247
Just received my jacket. 4 days to deliver form the states, nothing else to pay in respect of tax etc. I don't think I shall be buying any clothing from the UK any more. otherwayup
They seem to have several called 4 in 1. Which one did you get?
Matty7247
The extreme dry plus. Designed for cold weather shooting. Can't remember the exact name for it. But the liner is reversible, it's quite a light jacket considering it has a liner. Plenty of pockets too.
