shaun4860
You can still get the 1.0 corsa for that Ka's are horrendous for rust, especially around the filler cap
washerboy
Are newer cars cheaper to insure for a new driver.my 60 plate seat altea is £24 a month yet my old 99 plate focus was £36 a month, same size engine.
lambchop
Insurance is purely a numbers game, ie more common makes and models most likely to have been, then predicted to be in, an accident. Meaning some surprises exist, ie certain saab's Mercedes or even small 4x4's could be cheaper than you think! Have a think about who is likely to own a particular car then get a quote you may be surprised! I had a turbo Saab insured for less than a mondeo! utectok
Mmmm not at all sure about that insurance idea I thought the more cars the easier it is to spread the risk. Or unusual cars are more expensive to insure as the risks are more difficulties to establish? Someone on here will be an underwriter and put me straight though? Btw I just got a ford Ka mainly because it was a good deal I think ? 2006 model 48000 miles service history to 2010 tidy bodywork for £1200 good I think ? Thanks for the advice Will Edited December 22, 2013 by utectok
andypaint
Insurance is mainly based on driver's risk. And cost of repair on the vehicle ( labour, cost of parts) some vehicles are easy to work on others are a pain.
triumphant59
I would stick to VW's, either Polo or Lupo, build quality and reliability far better than anything Ford or Vauxhall and in my experience the Japanese cars are higher insurance. utectok
Last polo I had was nothing but bother electrical mainly that was a fairly recent one :(
paulinlincs
I cannot for the life of me work insurance out. Example 21 year old son 54 plate 1.4 fiesta £700 just bought a Hyundai coupe 2.0 58 plate £570. Wife swapped 1.6 focus £212 now has Saab 2.0 turbo cabriolet £198 No sense at all. andypaint
Easy 54 plate fiesta would be a pay out should it be damaged but the hyundai is more valuable so has a retained value so repairable. The focus and saab are of a similar insurance quote. Saab body parts now getting tricky to get hold of cheaplt.
Pigeon sniper
Sounds daft but landrover defender 90, I'm 17, passed my test a month ago and insured for £1250 a year through admiral on a household policy with dad and step mam as named driver. Not bad for a 2.5 turbo diesel haha. Probably not her cup of tea though

Fuji Shooter
I am looking to buy my lad a Defender this year when he turns 17 as he needs space for all his band gear. Nice to see he should be under £2K for insurance I didn't even think he would get a quote.
