dazzyboi
On the number of guns you can hold?
stevethevanman
I currently hold 2 firearms or shotgun and have had no trouble, but I am told that when you get into the numbers such as 5 or 6 guns, they become more strict because they want to know why you need those guns. stevethevanman
my FEO said to me just after I had sold my FAC airgun when I rang him up to ask when he was coming to inspect the cabenet, he said there was no need, I was thinking to myself I could have got a bigger one and just not bothered to bolt it to the wall, but if it's fine with him, it's fine with me. He said there was no need because there was already one there.
mossy835
i can hold 5 guns, after that i must have an alarm on the house.
taffygun
From what I can gather you can have as many rifles and shotguns as, 1. Your FAC ticket will allow, what has been granted and, 2. Your security cabinets will hold. I do believe though that after 6 shotguns/firearms or combinations of both then extra security is required in your home. In Gwent I was warned when I briefly had 6 shotguns that I needed extra security on my house such as an alarm or dogs. i can hold 5 guns, after that i must have an alarm on the house. Damn my slow typing

stevethevanman
I was told by my firearms officer that if I went to 5 guns I would have to have a alarm.
Claytons Guns
Here in merseyside, you can have as many as you like, as long as you have good reason for having them, anything after 12 guns and the homeoffice has to approve your storage/property. I currently have 5 Firearms with 2 more spare slots and 3 shotguns. Steve
grasshopper
I,ve got 8...4rifles and 4 shotties all for vermin or stalking so had no probs.know of a target shooter who had 14 last year might be more now and a farmer where i shoot who has 18 shotties but his son and daughter also use them. Lets face it why should we be restricted...........a golfer wouldn,t manage with 1 club!
dazzyboi
Again it seems to be a mixture depending on the LA. I dont think i would ever have more than 5-6 but i would like to build up a nice collection like so many other people have got.
dunganick
i think we have 14 lisenced guns in the house (cant be bothered to count) and they want us to have an alarm. They would also like us to have double glazing, but my dad said he was all up for it if the firearms dept. would pay. As they wernt keen on the idea we still have normal windows. No problems though. Gordon R
I have four shotguns. FLO came round and asked about my alarm. Said they were a waste of time!!!!!. I said if they could get past the dogs, they were welcome to the guns. Little pup is 10 stone Akita.

dazzyboi
Is there anybody on here that does collect guns as they are rather than just a tool. I want to be able to build up a collection with a max of 5 guns id say and keep it at 5, if i see something i like i will have to make a sacrifice and push one overboard (Sell). Thats why im thinking of a 5-6 extra deep cabinet.
mossy835
if you put in for a collecters licence you can keep as many guns as you like.or thats what a rfd told me.

I would imaging they are quite hard to get hold of unless you are or some sort of charactor and have very good security.. I wasnt even aware there was a collectors licence
njc110381
Slightly bending the subject, but still roughly on track. My police force allows six guns I think, but could I have a larger capacity cabinet to store my air rifle in as well? I assume my limit can be lower than the number of guns that will fit in the safe?
dunganick
how big your safe is is completely up to you. I would recomend getting the tallest and largest safe you can. You will kick yourself everytime you smack the guns together because you got a '6 gun' cabinet because you only wanted 6 guns. I have a 6 gun cabinet to myself and it only has 4 guns in it. I wouldnt put any more in it. Also if you intend to get a centerfire and store it with the mod on you will want a very tall safe. I'm not sure the police can actually stop you having as many shotguns as you like as shotguns are not regulated like FAC guns. And the only FAC limitation is 'good reason' to have another gun. Which if you justified with 'target use' you can really have as many as you like i suppose.
njc110381
I've been looking at a seven gun, to hold four. It's always handy to have a little extra room to save bashing the scopes about. At the moment, I have a three gun, and I've stopped putting my air rifle in it because it's so tight in there. I only have one shotgun and the air rifle at the moment! I'd like a remmy 1100 sometime, and hopefully will get my 17hmr passed. That and the air gun should be about right in a seven I'm thinking
