SNAKEBITE
In the paper today................... 46 year old man hears burglars. Goes to investigate with 18 year old son. Burglars leg it and man gives chase. Man collapses and dies of a heart attack. Police are not treating his death as suspicious What the Hell has gone wrong with this country? Highlander
mmmm there's far worse wrong with this country. No point in chasing burglars...if you catch them either you'll get nicked for harrassment and infringing their human rights or even if they do get done it'll be a suspended sentence on full pay I think you'll find the guy in question had a pre existing heart condition so whilst it's sad that he died he did know he wasn't the fittest guy on the planet. If was robbing someones house and got disturbed, I would run off. If I then had a heart attack and collapsed I would say "I was chasing some bad guys when it happened guv" Maybe too much PW has made me cynical More detail of the actual events are needed... SNAKEBITE
I like that a lot Cranfield. O.k. I can see the point about not chasing burglars because you could get hurt if they stop and have a go but really this is the thin edge of the wedge. plexer
That was local to me apparently the guy had a known heart condition as well that may be why they aren't treating it as suspicious must have been the shock of thinking about someone breaking in. SNAKEBITE
But it still doesn't make it allright does it? Does that mean I can steal an old ladies money because she is old and will die soon anyway? Or do over a hospice because the patients are all on their way out? Hunter
Chances are he could have died anytime if a run kicked it off. Britain has a history of bad hearts

Dave-G
There's no chance of securing a conviction in relation to the death - even if the guy was healthy unless they attacked him. Small consolation - they MIGHT feel a tinge of guilt.
SNAKEBITE
Small consolation - they MIGHT feel a tinge of guilt. Oh yes that's true. I bet they are in the confession box now, before popping down to the orphanage to help the children. :yp:
Bigbob
My dogs started barking one night i went out and theres three youth in my garden ,were looking for our ball sure they where there to steal my dogs or ferrets .i phoned 999 to be told this isn't a emergency to be put through to the local cop shop and put on hold when they answered they said they where busy but would get there as soon as, i replied fine but im going to defend me and mine . Every time i spoke to the youths i got a mouthfull and loads of swearing and my back door window got broken in the afra .When the cops finally arrived the had a look at the window and gave me a number for the insurance .Police there a waste of time .but try to go a few miles above the speed limit and see what happens
