The Essex Hunter
A follow on picture from yesterday of the base my Dad gave me a hand with... Still a bit green but firm enough to place the frame on I made some time back. With more rain on the way this project will be longer than I had hoped!! figgy
Try to keep the metal of the concrete if you can. Even a 1/4 in of plastic to stop it trapping water and rusting out. You'll soon have it all done. Figgy
activeviii
Looking good. Like figgy says, get it up off the floor will save problems later. I lift mine with 2" stainless box that i used as washers for when bolting the sides to the base. makes it easier to wash the urine away without trapping under the metal work. only thing i couldn't sort was a drain for the waste to flush down. All the best Phil
stubby
when I did something similar to this I used rawlbolts to fix the frame down, but inserting 50mm pieces of copper tube between base and frame to keep it up, makes it so much easier when washing out

four-wheel-drive
I do not think you could call that a dog run it would be hard pushed to have a good stretch in there that my friend is a dog cage nothing wrong with that to be a run in my eye it would need to be about 20 ft long. having said that it looks like you are making a good job of it could I suggest that before bolting it down you give the bottom part a coat of car undercoat to help keep the rust off the angle frame what are you covering the covered part with ply or wood. The 180 square feet compound which the "dog run" is situated in is where he can stretch his legs..... The angle frame!! is 40x40x3 box section with 40x40x 5mm on the base to build in extra life in the base, it has been etched, primed and painted. The mix was 5-1 with fibre in the mix with 6mm mesh in the centre....Dads been doing this 60 years and myself 30... I think that covers it from my end..... TEH So what you are saying is it is a dog house situated in a compound where the dog can run as for the RHS section I did notice that on second look but could not be bothered to change it. You did not say what covering you are putting on the house part also I think what Hawkeye said about putting say 2" spacers under the frame so that you could just hose it clean if the dogs do poo in there would be a good idea you could then put a wooden floor for them to sleep on better in the cold with no heating. kent
Drill the bottom hollow section, insert threaded stud and trap it between two nuts (one of these could be captive - ie welded to the frame). Now at the other end of the stud (the one that touches the base) you weld a short section of flat bar with a hole drilled so you can fix the the base. What you then get is a frame off the floor with level adjustment
