stubby
Following the recent thread x box and men. My youngest boy is 13 and addicted to his xbox, He used to come fishing and shooting but has lost interest in both, any ideas to get him back to reality ? our kids would play on them all day, so we set time limits, you can do that as a parent

Lord Geordie
Don't take it away, He has done nothing wrong so it would be deemed a punishment You CAN use the parental controls and put a time limit on it When his time is up He will get bored and look for other avenues to spend time on! Nikk
Computer games like the TV are very addictive for kids. You need strict limits but putting them in place retrospectively is going to be very hard work.
islandgun
Thanks for that men, limiting time and paid work then, Iv'e been racking my head for a cunning plan but with little success. give him a few months and it will probably be girls, ( bring back the xbox!) cheers IG
aris
We limited my younger sons time on his iPod on which he watches vacuous youtube videos mostly. He has used the free time in the 4 weeks since to read 6 books instead. Everything in moderation!
OddJob
If you do not want the behaviour, state it, give reason(s) why and then consistently apply it with as little conflict as possible (i.e. don't get angry, just tell them that you have already said what you wanted). It should be a reward/luxury once everything else (including homework/chores) are done. You are doing them no favour at all allowing them to play them. Kids that young cannot manage themselves and just want entertained. Get them doing something else, including reading. Good idea billy, Talked with him this morning and he's up for it, when you said "both do together" it brought me up and i realised I'm not doing enough with the lad and blaming it on something else, we can make a start on some mackerel feathers and take it from there. cheers for that IG
