triumphant59
From the action it looks a nice gun, what is it?
Gunman
AyA top lever springs can be filed to fit most guns with similar spring type . There was a time when all gun shops carried a few things like tis but alas that seems to be thing of the past . You state your location as North East . Give Graham a ring at John Fosters near Stockton 01740 631110 they work Monday to Friday ,will probably cost you about £10/15 . more if you want it fitted . Gunman
Good on you, but how many more ? Or is PW the first port of call these days ? It seems that people ask here first where in days gone by ,they would have been down the local gunshop who would either had one or could get one for you with no trouble . Fieldsports
Hi Glad you found a spring blank has anyone mentioned how to tension it and fit so it dosent break first time out ? All the best Of No mate, I just thought to fit it by closing it and then tying it with wire until it is on its peg hole and in the lever gap. Then remove the wire holding it closed. I just know this will be wrong....LOL
Fieldsports
Hi Glad you found a spring blank has anyone mentioned how to tension it and fit so it dosent break first time out ? All the best Of Please tell me more. Here is my spring size !
Old farrier
Hi This is my method I am shure there ar others ! First if your lucky enough to get one the right sise you will have to file the stud to fit the hole Then check length and height file to same polish out file marks Check tension with long nose pliers to adjust tension remove small equal amounts of metal from the two inner edges of spring if you leave file lines and groves it will snap on them also do NOT generate much heat or you will remove the temper of the spring and have to re temper I hope this helps but to be honest its a gun your fixing take it to one of the professionals that have offered to help ask yourself if this is broken what else is worn ? Any way all the best with your repair Of
Fieldsports
Thanks mate,It is a gun I am trying to fix for a mate.He has little money to spend due to his financial circumstancesI know I am asking for a cheap method but that's all he can affordSo I will do my best to help....If it works. He can not afford to let someone or a pro do the job, that's why I said I would try for him.I can hopefully but a spring or acquire one near enough and machine it to fit if needed.I am however a mechanic and can do a fair bit of fabrication even though working from home I have limited tools.I think I will give it a go and try and help the lad out in his hour of need.I will try and source a spring about the same size and work from there.I just hope I can help him as he is a real nice kind of lad. Thanks
Old farrier
Hi Just hand file it Necessity can be the mother of invention so can being broke I'm sure your very capable of doing the job but its a open forum just making others aware Hope it goes well if you get stuck just ask Small vice A couple of sharp small files one should have no teeth on one edge Is all you need All the best Of
subsonicnat
If I had some spare steel, I could make you one, easy.
Fieldsports
I really appreciate the comments and reply's to this dilemma,Its great honest. The reply that has me intrigued is "subsonicnat"I love to improvise but do a correct job.I will be honest I lack the use of a lath at home so I try to improvise. Not being in the machine shop any more I need to make things with things , "things should not be made of.."If I can get this spring made cheap or buy it for that matter it will make the blokes day.If I can make anyone feel that good then it makes me feel good.I was just going to try and gas weld this.....until I came on here..LOLThanks lads, I will get his gun fixed for him somehow....... some way !
