henry d
If you have a problem relating to licensing etc. then they are the tops for sorting it out, they have allsorts of courses/rifle range days at a reasonable cost and if you have even the smallest query they are at the end of a phone and willing to speak to you. They are also good at campaigning against threats to our sport, that alone is worth the money IMO.
webber
I agree with henry. There is far more to being a member of a shooting organisation than simply the insurance that they provide You need to find out quite what the organisation is putting back into shooting, and doing to protect its future. webber

wabbitbosher
Whats the benefits of joining BASC apart from insurance, anything else? Where do I start? BASC are the only organisation to lobby parliament on a regular basis to Protect the future of Shooting of all kinds within the UK (look what happened to fox hunting) They provide all sorts of help with any firearms and shotgun enquiries Help in finding places to shoot Game, Wildfowl and Clays Provide Young shot days at cost (Which is just a nominal fee) to bring new blood into the various outdoor sports, Shooting, Fishing, Deer management, falconry, Dog training, to name but a few, to teach your kids to shoot better than you can (Maybee not such a good idea) Ladies days so you can pack the wife off for the day to learn to shoot better than you can !! (Again Maybe not a good idea eh chaps) On site training at Game fairs all over the country for shooters of all ages shapes and sizes to learn all aspects of shooting from gun mounting right though to the finer points of shooting disciplines Not to forget Safety!!! A bi monthly mag FULL of useful information (and a better morning read than a load of tabloids I’ll not mention) As well as all this if you come to a Game fair when I’m on the BASC stand you'll be greeted with one of the warmest smiles you've Ever seen and if you ask me nicely I’ll give you a car sticker, sign in a new member and I’ll look after both of you (NOT IN THE BIBLICAL SENCE YA PERVS) And all of this for a little over a Quid a week !!!!!!!!!! Cheaper if you’re a Young shot or an Old shot or Joint membership BASC!! EVERY TIME WB
Ferret Master
I'm a BASC Young Shot and their days are really quite good. I won the 20 bore age group on the clays on the last day I went on and was a sent a padded Napier gun slip for my prize. FM
Highlander
my own quote from an earlier topic...if you only ever join a shooting/country sports organisation for the ‘insurance’ shame on you. You should be more supportive of your passion! BASC do leave certain things to be desired but they are wholeheartedly about supporting our sports even if sometimes they get it wrong. In this day and age only the BIG boys get heard and I don't think it'll be long before some of the smaller organisations get swallowed up and then who knows... the CA take over BASC! It's a corporate world we inhabit!
Dead-Eyed Duck
I have had many dealing with BASC, and they have been really excellent. Many say that their image is wrong - that they deal with the 'toffs' only. However, in this world they have to have this image in order to be taken seriously by government and other agencies. The people at the sharp end of BASC such as George Wallace in firearms have a mine of information, and all you have to do is ask. Finally, in my opinion all shooters should by law belong to such an organisation if only for insurance reasons. If you are chasing land permission belonging to BASC does carry clout.
