spannermonkeymark
Can you insure 2 cars and use your no claims discount on both cars
Kes
No usually as more than one principal driver. If its just you driving both then you may have to convince your prospective insurer. Have you tried multi-car, not usually the cheapest but may work out for you?
stubby
no, only on one, but try admiral, have just gone with them, had a claim last year which bumped my insurance up, was paying around £500 to insure my freelander, wanted to start using the vitara too, and was quoted £1000 just for the vitz tried admiral and got both full comp for £
Davyo
No,however there was a company called besure who if you insured with them in the second year said they would give you no claims to match your main car.But its a bit of a con, because to retain those no claims you have to stay with them. For instance if you insure with them they would in my case bring my no claims from 1 to 9yrs to match my main car.If you left them the following year, your no claims on the 2nd car would go back to 2yrs(none transferable). Mentalmac
Admiral are pretty good with this type of thing. I have a Admiral multi car policy and it's much more reasonable than others I looked at. Just ask them to make the price a bit keener and they are pretty good. A lot of people do the "well, let me speak to your manager" nonsense, but that just makes the operative not want to help you, just ask for a better price in a non cheesy way and they do their best to help. delburt0
Just use a multi car policy they take all owned vehicles into consideration when working the premium out.. I'm with aviva paying £480 for my hilux and the wife's corsa, the policy is in joint names so can drive each others fully comp it was £17.00 a month more when I had my jag sport on so not a lot more for a extra car.. The Mighty Prawn
I had a great year with Admiral and despite no claims the premium nearly doubled the next year, tried the other multi cars and all were more than two individual policies - they don't like my job I fear so premiums rocket. Lord Geordie
I had a great year with Admiral and despite no claims the premium nearly doubled the next year, tried the other multi cars and all were more than two individual policies - they don't like my job I fear so premiums rocket. Admiral were the FIRST company I found who did NOT charge more for commuting! Infact I found it reduced my policy by £20? They also reduced the policy when I added my Girlfriend to the policy as a Provisional license holder? I ended up with a quote under £400 a year fully comp. This year they bumped the price to £411? I looked about and got a quote for £385 from quote me happy! Then tried Confused.com and dropped the policy to Me only. I got a quote from Asda for £219 so rang Admiral. I chatted with the lad on the phone, who said he would run a new quote. He ended up with a quote of £548 for both me and the gf! And £689 solo? Guess where I am going They are also really parky about your line of work! Certain jobs are high risk to them. I used to work in entertainment, Bar Bungee, Bar fly, mobile lazer quest, bouncy castles, disco, karaoke, singing, foam parties etc etc. My insurance went to over a GRAND. Even though I always had a company van and didn't use my own car for work? I failed to see why I needed to give them that info in future! But when I was a Bus driver! Now my insurance took a nose dive, as I was classed as a professional driver? I am now a FLT driver and still get a small discount! And don't forget the postcode is important too! I had 13 years NCB and was paying £300+ a year for a cavalier. My friend was driving a Peugeot 1007 hdi after 3 accidents in 5 years his insurance was still only £200 as a dual policy! Because he lives in the sticks?
Penfolio
You can only have one no claims bonus and, use it against one insurance policy. However, many insurers will take into account your no claims history and, offer a similar discount on 2nd car policies.
