Hi guys, new to forum and to shogun shotting. Iv seen a franchi semi auto 12g with full choke in good condition 2 3/4 chamber 3 shot. Its up for £220 ono, has anyone owned one of these before any good ? And is this a fair price. Gun will be used for rough shooting and decoying. Thanks in advance Andy

If its an AL48 Hunter, they are brilliant but like any semi it needs to be kept clean.I sold mine for £140 in excellent condition biggest mistake I ever made.Find a cartridge its comfy with and stick.I use 32g no6 (have use 28g with no issues).I tried to find another but they are all asking silly money for poor condition guns . I'd be looking to pay £150 in good cond and £200 for a minter.I know the buyer of mine sold it on for a profit and I think its up for sale again in Hexham for £200???

Dont know what model that is the hunter has ducks, pheasant as the engraving.Looking at the wear on the black around the trigger I wouldnt pay more than £120.There is one the same as in your picture on Gun watch for £125 and looks in better condition.

Loads out there for that sort of money some will be very good some knackered..... full choke not ideal for most shooting depend what you want it for but most important of all is the fit. IF it dont fit you it doesnt matter how good the gun or the deal is...

What will you be shooting at?

Did you buy the franchi OU you were looking at?

That's an al48, A for auto, L for light and 48 the year it was made or proposed!

Great guns. Just don't oil the mag tube!

U.

I disagree on the oil. I know that is what the manual says, however a tiny touch of light oil on the mag tube helps cycling if you are pushing to 28g and below. For the bigger and faster cartridges it doesn't make a difference so long as the friction ring is in the right orientation. But for lighter ones it makes a difference. Also important is keeping the action free of crud. If you get the action spring (not the recoil spring) gummed up then that will prevent it from cycling.

thanks,

rick

I understand...I like how the gun feels with it dryish...not swimming in oil. It was designed around 32g I understand however mine cycles 28g a treat.

The friction ring is not turned, it is the bush that pushes on it. One side is coned to match the friction ring thus encouraging more friction/braking on the mag tube. The other is not coned so lessens the braking etc.

U :good:
