Target Practice
Hi all, I purchased my Hatsan Escort (new model with extended chokes) just over a year ago. The problem i have with it is that there has always been a bit of morement between the barrel and the receiver. Only a few millimeters of movement but you can basically twist the barrels from left to right very slightly. Also after every 4 or 5 shots I have to tighten up the chokes and the fore-end cap. Is this normal. ?? Ive took it apart, reassembled. Tried cleaning the chokes, also tried leaving them dirty... but same problem always persists. I took it back to essex gun who suggested it was functioning ok. Iv had the gun a year, put about 750 carts through it now. But these probs were there after the first few shots i fired. Still under warranty, but has anyone else experienced these problems? Concious the dealer and edgar bros may give me a tainted version of events. Many thanks. BRNDL
I had one until recently, a 2011 model and there was slight movement in the barrel. No real issues with the chokes though.

paul87
I don't know if its the same but I have a Beretta Urika the 1st one and it had a similar problem with play in the barrel. It didn't twist much but would move back and forth about 5mm. It turned out to be the sprung loaded washer in the end cap had siezed with the spring depressed. Plenty of oil and a good whack with a piece of wood sorted it out. There was also a spring loaded cir-clip which I removed, it stops the washer from coming out, once the washer was out gave it a good cleaning. This may also be the reason why the end cap is working loose, however there should be a spring loaded ball in the end cap too. Again I am only speaking from experience of Beretta but it may be the same
Target Practice
Thanks for comments chaps. I sense that these things come with purchasing a cheap gun. It functions fine and cycles anything.
Underdog
The mag cap is supposed to snug the barrel to the receiver, either the mag tube is loose or has been drawn out of the receiver or as suggested the cap is running out of thread because of another reason. Maybe the mag tube is too long. Eliminate it from the enquiry by making plastic washers maybe that fit over the mag tube between barrel lug and cap to see if it snugs the barrel up, if so there is your problem some plumbers tape,(PTFE) on the choke threads should stop them coming loose, not much though. Failing all that get one of these; http://www.guntrader.co.uk/Guns-For-Sale/Navy-Arms_Shotgun-Black-Powder_For-Sale_140412120553001 U. fse10
Have you check the two screws that hold the coller over the mag tube if these are loose they will stop the forend sitting right which will stop it from going all the way down so will not clamp barrel down tight so will move abit.
