deny essex
Having not used a manual flapper for over 20 years and a little miffed with batteries plus forgetting to charge them now and then I obtained a manual flapper courtesy of ditchman. Very impressed with the build quality a tads weighty, but I doubt it weighs much more than a battery one including the battery, No plastic parts and I think safe to say if accidently hit by shot no worries with breaking. I coupled it with fishing braid as the pull cord as I remember using my old one with standard sea fishing line or cord and having to run 3 meters to get the stretch out to operate at 35 yard, no such problem with the braid and the operating mechanics worked well. With its extension section for long crop its going to be well used during the summer.

Westley
Yep, it was called the WAGBI/Seamark pigeon flapper. Mine is still going strong but I do not think the rubber band is the original !
pigeon controller
Yes the good old days, we had a system that would allow us to run four flappers at a time. This would draw birds from great distances. We then developed a manual rotary and finally obtained a electric rotary.
masmiffy
Wish I hadnt 'lent' my flapper to a mate used to like it. EMcC if you want rid of the Semark flapper please let me know.
motty
I have better things to do than mess about with a manual flapper whilst out shooting, ie shooting.
fenboy
The manual flappers were very effective back in the day and once you had the knack you could really turn birds into the pattern. I stopped using them when I started taking a dog as they would run through the line.
