Ive never heard of any problems blanking it off , ive done it to a few cars now and know others also that have , it should save you money really as its clogging your manifold with carbon all the time and you wouldnt want to replace that if you can help it especially if swirl flaps are involved aswell , your engine should run alot smoother with no flat spots in the rev range and no clouds of black smoke when you put your foot down.

Can you blank any diesel off or just truck types

(VW Diesel)

:shaun:

Any diesel I believe. Iv done it to all my past cars . 1.8 tdci focus. 2.0hdi pug. 1.4tdi polo and just done it to the ranger .

All produced better low rev power. Turbo spools up quicker and seems smoother power delivery

My Navara lost power then wouldn't start at the weekend. I've blanked of the EGR and it started straight away and is running fine with no fault lights showing.

Pity the RAC bloke didn't know what to do as he just called out the recovery truck and said it would be a Nissan fix because his machine couldn't pick up a fault.

£4 plate and back up and running :good:

Spooky, was about to blank mine off and noticed this thread.

I agree. From what research I've done, the worst that can happen is the eml with come on. If you can live with that then no problem.

Certain ECUs are clever enough to know when the egr is blanked . Mk7 ford transit for example.

Thats why they make plates with a small hole in just to let a little bit of the gases get through so the ecu thinks it working correctley and dosnt throw a fault .

Exactly . Your spot on with that
