Generally the rounded ones are most accurate , flat heads are not much use for other than close quarters rat shooting etc and pointed tend not to be as accurate as round ( dome head) one.

Stick to a good quality dome head , you may need to try a few to find which suits your particular gun best .

Good starting point would be RWS superdomes, AirArms field diablos and H&N field and target trophy.

Don't be tempted by the cheap lightweight pellets either, they might be ok for plinkin targets but you need a good hunting pellet if you intend to go after live prey, I'm using diabolo field 8.4 grains ,round heads, head shots on rabbits at up to 30 yards with my .177 air arms S400, are no problem, in one side and out the other along with some scrambled brains. haven't done much on birds as I prefer the 12 bore, but no reason why a good hunting pellet wouldn't do for all, The diabolos are about £9 for 500 but well worth it .:yes:
