Sco77w
I am interested in buyiing either a trench gun or a lever action shotgun for their historic value aswell as shooting something a bit different but I only have 1 open S1 shotgun slot on my FAC and all of these are S1 shotguns (unless you get a reproduction or a restricted on which will impact on its historic authenticity. My problem is I want to buy a benelli super nova to shoot PSG with as a back up to my semi auto. What I need to know is could I be granted an additional slot for collecting historic firearms and would I be able to use them? I know I could stick loads of S2 shotguns on my SGC but as I mentioned I don't want to ruin a historic piece by having the mag crimped. spandit
Aren't some antique pieces exempt? Good question, though, must be a way round if
welshwarrior
I know an author who has a collection of historical guns so he can understand how the work what they are like to shoot so his books are more realistic and historically correct. Scully
Discussed this with my FEO some years ago and he said if you can prove you have a genuine interest such as a collection of books, memorabilia etc regarding that period or that subject then you can apply for 'collector status', whatever that means. Contact Bill Harriman through BASC; if he doesn't know, no one will

Bernard Cornwell, by any chance?
Sco77w
Cheers guys some helpful info. My FLO was going to be my next point of call but I didn't want to come across like some nut job that wants lots of guns. I've not even scratched the surface of going down the section 7 route yet. I can't imagine having something that just gets locked away for me to take out and look at once in a while or having something of historical importance that I can shoot but having to leave it at a club. I'm not even sure if there's a section 7.3 club local to me.

Manchester isn't too far, Leicester is doable but my office is in west brom and the evening shooting makes Wednesbury look favourable.
