Beretta28g
I have just inherited a large box full of taps and dies. Does anyone have any ideas on how best to store them as I don't want to damage the cutting threads. Cheers
Big Mat
Usually they would have their own individual boxes
saddler
The sort of wooden block used in schools for pencils would be an idea.... Clean the threads with an old toothbrush and oil them prior to putting to one side
fenboy
Any wooden box should do , the dies are recessed so little chance of damaging the thread in those , and by their very nature the taps are made of very hard steel so again should not be easily damaged unless they are dropped . ditchman
clean them as they say with a tooth brush or suede brush.....spray copperslip on them and wrap them in grease proof paper if you are not going to use them for a long while

Duckman91
Any wooden box should do , the dies are recessed so little chance of damaging the thread in those , and by their very nature the taps are made of very hard steel so again should not be easily damaged unless they are dropped . This and oil them lightly before storage.

peck
If you want to go to the trouble you could get some Forstner bits and drill suitable size holes in a piece of wood for the dies and route some slots for the taps, then make a lid and fix with a piano hinge. You could make it as basic or as elaborate as you want.
