How on earth can KC reg stop or reduce theft?

Exactly, some morons believe that KC registration is essential but puppy farmers have been faking paperwork for years.

And I take it they can fake the kc online checkers where you can check the lines your pup has come from and what health tests were done on its ancestors? Fake kc papers are dead easy to check

They usually rely on folks not checking the papers unless they want to breed or show. People who have dogs delivered to them do not have an address to go back to as it is usually false.

I was offered a puppy delivered to our door when we were looking for a new dog. Needless to say we got our dog from somewhere else.

I know of lads who breed litter after litter of border terriers buy in papers from pet owners who have know intention of breeding. Theres no reason to doubt the dogs paperwork as a single litter, brought into the house for buyers to view away from the rest, raises no suspicion. Why would any buyer go to the effort of blood tests unless they had suspicion?

Do the KC police come out and DNA test sire dam and all pups to ensure there's no fiddling of paperwork ?

 

Because without that the whole KC registration system is open to misuse and only ever worth the paper it's written on
