Hi All,

Following on from the cycle ride thread on here, and knowing how technical and nerdy we all get over our bikes, anyone want to show us what you ride?

I love seeing other bikes, but always makes me want to buy one...

Road bikes, TT Bikes, Mountain Bikes?

Me, start of the London to Southend on 22nd July.

Trek Alpha 1.5, Ali frame 2008 model, triple chain rings, Bontrager, wheel, forks, seat post, seat and cranks, Shimano Sora group set, brakes and shifters. All for the princely sum of £39.50 (an interesting story)

My Sigma Kronos

(Don't see many of them!!!) - a 2004 frame, 7003 alu. Oval Concept forks and carbon aero bars. Forgot to raise saddle (I had to lower it to get it into car)

My MTB (good old Halfrauds when cheap haha) - only bought it so that I could take it up to the top of Pen Y Fan mountain in Wales with some friends who were going. (Pic below, I'm the idiot with my eyes shut - classic.

And my commuter bike:
Any one tell me the problem with the bike in this pic? haha. (I was about 2 miles into a ride to work when I realised this mistake and was mighty peeved).

Not quite the usual expresso for a bit of zing then :whistling:

After my first couple of miles of my old commute (which was fairly up hill) I was gasping for a drink and did consider it.... luckily I talked myself out of it just as quick and just soldiered on. haha.

My Giant Defy 2.

It now wears silver Mavic CPX33 rims on 105 hubs - otherwise pretty much as stock.

I will have done 3500 miles on it by the end of the year. Car miles gone down to under 2,500 annually in our second car.

Mainly commuting - 10 miles in, 6 miles home. Only live 4 miles from work !

Jesus that is loud

Haha it's an easy bike to identify in the transition area for sure... :-).

Saving up for some nicer wheels, but boy do the get expensive quickly!

A nice bike to ride though, but a ****** to keep clean! (And the try bar's are a little long so may chop a few inches off them I reckon, dislike the angle of them coming up so much too but the price I paid for the bike I wasn't going to moan...

Now is the time of year to shop for bits and bikes for that matter.

All the keen people will want the words '2015 spec' on anything they buy so anything 2013/4 is flogged off double quick time.

I bought my frame on ebay and then built it up from scratch with the bits I wanted and could afford, as a result the spec is better than anything twice what it cost me.

Those wheels don't look too bad? I went for Fulcrum 3's which are light enough and fast enough for anything I need.

Best way of doing it that is, pre-built tends to come with stuff you'll chuck after a season so may as well get it how you want it to start with :-).

There aren't bad wheels, (not like the R500's I had before) - they are campagnolo khamsins, nice and durable). Fulcrum 3's are nice wheels too.

I'll be keeping eyes out for bits and bobs to come up for sale cheap soon :-)

Still messing around with stem lengths but this is my latest addition. No bar tape yet too. Will be on my trusty Giant on Sunday...

edit: pic didn't post, oh well, it's a Scott Foil 15 Di2 with Dura Ace C50 wheels.

edit edit: kinda like this...

Nice!

I know what you mean about stem lengths...

I am on the smaller sized end of the spectrum on my frame size on my TT bike (it was such a bargain I couldn't be fussy) so have had to cut my stem length. CUrrenly using a 60mm.

What length are you using?

Looks like a real dark evil machine that :-)

OH, and What's the Di2 like?

Worth the expense? sounds mental.

My foil is too small for me really. I need at least 120mm of stem. Probably gonna have to change to a 56cm frame. It was always going to be tight. They are fast bikes, silly fast.

I got the frame (2012 but the geometry is same as 2014) and the entire Di2 (ultegra) 11 speed groupset new for £1399.
