shootgun
Been out stalking yesterday evening hoping to get my first fallow of the season. Weather was very hot and humid, and no wind. We start stalking a piece of thick wood with a lot of cover. Loads of slots and droppings about but not even a deer in sight so after couple of hours we decided to call it a day and went back to the truck. As soon as we reached the truck a cool breeze started and few minutes after, the rain too, so we decided to have quick look on some freshly cut barely fields with some woods in between, as we had great visibility over the whole ground and a good half an hour of daylight left. We got of the truck and we spotted a roe doe with a kid straight away, so was good sign. Went on the edge of the other field and start glassing around, and spotted what seem to be two roe does, at around 500 yards, on the opposite corner of the field. Decided to have a closer look, but with the wind behind me, start stalking around the field, on the other side of the woods, and as we reached half way to the middle, we had a look and spotted the deers, which at this point moved towards us, at about 100 yds in the middle of the field. Another scan through the binos, and bingo! One of the roes was actually a young buck. Set up the sticks and found a clearing through the brambles, had a quick look to confirm is a buck, pulled the trigger and the buck dropped on the spot. Dinner sorted! shootgun
Yes, is only 200 mm long and only ads 80mm to the lenght of the rifle, also is very light, only 290 grams. Cleaning wise, i only spray it inside with WD40 and let it dry. Bought it from Chris Potter, in Tunbridge Wells, Kent Edited August 9, 2014 by shootgun
