Longbower
Right, I have been suffering , with a back injury, that is making it really painful to just walk, Sciatica in both hamstrings is no joke, honest. I,am a persistent/stubborn old s#d though, so I still want to go out on the permission, and 'bag a few' over the stubble. So I bought a pop up hide , from a reputable company.after, Having watched the video on how to pop it up and fold it down , I thought ' it looks easy! I went out with it today, popped it up, anchored it down, got me chair inside, me flask, and the all important chocolate 'hobnobs', and without further ado, the pigeons started to come into the decoy pattern I had already set out. The hide, didnt leak , when it rained, and I had a lovely comfy three hours, sat in the hide. I bagged 23 pigeons, with 30 carts, and was well chuffed until I had to try and fold the hide down. I had the demonstration video going on my I phone, I was trying to follow every step, but it just would not fold up like it did on the video. So i ended up with a rather bent looking pop up hide , stuffed into its bag, So i took it down to the archery club this evening, and non of the lads could fold it either. It still looks like a badly packed dinghy. Its a good piece of kit ,I can't fault it, in all but that one respect,

TIGHTCHOKE
I suggest you buy a lorry load of your chosen pop-up hides and just leave them where you set them up. If you kept a list you would eventually have a lot of places that you didn't need to take a hide to!
victorismyhero
So glad to know I'm not the only one..... Longbower
I spent this afternoon, with the article of frustration, in my back yard. I found out the following information; (Lay the hide flat on the floor, (That will be good in a muddy field), and ensure that all the excess is tucked away between the front and rear surfaces, and that it still remains flat.) ###The above is the bit which prevents It folding up correctly.if you don't do it### The rest is as instruction video, Pick it up, so that it is vertical, now fold the top of the hide no more than half way down. Hold this in this position grab the bottom of the hide and pull it up to the top of the hide which will be around your waist height. You will find that there are two hoops that have folded around each side of your legs. Step back , and turn the hide through 180 degrees, and the hoops that have been formed fold in . Job Done. I did this 7 or 8 times to make sure it wasn't a 'flook;. So the Bushwear TP hide , is now going to be used much more often.
birdsallpl
You obviously have it now worked out, so well done. I have looked at these type of hides and thinking of getting one myself. Not so much the pop up facility but more for the roof. I like to have a roof cover on a conventional net hide but find doing so a pain. You have to carry extra poles to lay across or it always sags and seams to get in the way, so these hides may be the solution. But what has put me off is I have never seen anyone using one or heard the benefits before your post. If it wasn't for your bad back would you still use it or would you prefer the conventional net and pole type?

birdsallpl
what about a fishing brolly for the roof I take it that's what you use telf. Doesn't the pole get in the way?
Longbower
Now that I have worked it out, I will not be going back to poles and nets. This thing I can carry on my back along with my bag(large army day bag) of deeks/carts,biscuits,drink, my gun in one hand and a fold up chair in the other. I can also stay dry. I do wear a camo hat and a scrim bandanna, so there is not a big white ugly mush, scaring them as they come in. And now they cannot see any movement , they do come in. The biggest improvements this season, are to allow much more room inside the decoy pattern, make sure there is movement in the decoys ie ;they wobble. And use the covered hide. I am no expert, and can only judge by the improved results.
