wymberley
But I had no choice. I first saw the 4 roe last week while looking for fox - mum, two fawns and another doe. The fawns were having an obstacle race over the rows of straw with the slightly larger one in the lead - bold as brass, did two laps around the car within under 20 yards. Today I had an afternoon on the pigeon on the same field now that the straw is baled and lifted. The same 4 came into the field outside of my arc of fire (road) and this time all 4 were grazing. The shooting was slow so it was nice to watch them. I'd fired about 10 shots and they hadn't turned a hair and in fact were getting closer. Another couple of shots and it's getting a bit iffy. Then the bigger fawn decided the wheat was sweeter just 50 yards from the decoys and in line with what was turning out to be my killing ground. Standing up in the hide and asking it to move away had no effect so I had to nip out, flap my arms and scream blue murder before they all got the hint. Shame,it was quite pleasant watching them on a warm sunny September afternoon as the shooting wasn't up to much

Whitebridges
Half the fun isn't it? Watching the wildlife. I've had a bad run of late with folk swinging metal detectors. I'm beginning to get a bit of a complex about these dudes.

Think I would have given up on the shooting and just watched the deer
garden gun
Was out trout fishing last week and the kingfishers hunting was a spectacular sight. Do not aften see them at my regular water - so they were a real bonus. The wild life is a major part of country sports.

garden gun
Pot luck if theye were originally from the Welsh or Chiltern populations. Sixteen years ago just after the Chilterns introduction if you saw four or five together it was a sight to see. Now they are ten a penny round here - you do get a bit blase about them. mind you they are the best flying dustbins around - all waste meat and bone gets hoovered up from the garden. Alos very beautiful when the sun conditions are right reflecting off that red/brown plumage.

kent
On sat morn I was scouting around the estuary for fowl in the car after morning flight and spotted a big Palmated set of antlers sticking up from the long grass and a the big buck to which they were attached laid down catching some morning rays, the funny thing was it was about 15 yards from a well used road and path and nobody was actually seeing it or disturbing it. Sort of made the trip worthwhile after missing the only chance I got on morning flight.
