cpaulc
So I've been watching the shooting show on YouTube for a good while now and just recently I've seen many more low-level aerial filming. I'm assuming that they have bought themselves a nice quadcopter thing for filming these shots. Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just me? Fuji Shooter
I'm sure Billy is into quads and filming, he would know.
stumpy69
I noticed it on the last two. Looked to me like they had got a new toy and had to think of an excuse to use it.
jasper3
the price of these things have really come down, many in the filming world are using them, they range from 300 pounds up to silly money, the cheaper ones will take a go pro easy…
Paddy Galore!
a friend of mine who got me into helis does this as a sideline, he reckons it subsidises his shop, his octocopter is the mutts, all gps guided and programmed from a lappy, the only thing he has to watch out for is battery life, but then he's got that covered with a voltage warning thingumyjig. loriusgarrulus
Saw some in Maplins the other day. It had a card to record pictures and then you down loaded card to the computer for the film. Can,t remember the price, but less than £100 I think. stevo_m
I've been around quads for some time now. Most popular I've found is the DJI Phantom, which is plug and play. To get the high quality though you'll have to use a go pro and the 3d gimble. Not cheap though but the quality is up there with the £2k+ systems at half the price. The cheaper gear from Maplins, may look good, but the quality is poor and the cameras vibrate so the video is poor. Not worth the cost unless you just want to play. There are some amazing videos about now. Remember all pilots must be insured to fly as there are a number of rules to follow, all can be found through the British model flying association website.
