steve_b_wales
A mate of mine is looking for an add on NV. He has limited finances, but has looked at the above ones. What would be the best choice for him to buy? He is only interested on either of these. Thanks.
colin lad
i am sure you will get some come on and slate the arrow but mine is great and with the firefly i can see well beyond the distances stated though you do need to change some of the screws to make them more finger friendly colin

foosa
I'm waiting to see what the new atn x sight will be like, supposedly being released this month! I managed to kill my n550 a while back so have been doing some research into a replacement and have looked at the arrow, atom and a few others, the x sight looks the most promising to me if it lives up to the advertising it will be next on the shopping list. I had a look at the new nite site stuff at the midland gf and it looked good but I don't like the above scope screen setup.
steve_b_wales
Starlight informed me that the Arrow will work with a non PA scope, as long as the reticule is not very fine. The Atom is advertised as 'needs a PA scope'.
colin lad
Scott country no longer have the arrow listed, be interesting to no why they pulled it don't know if it's the reason why but scott country were getting lots of grief about the Arrow's late arrival 6 months late i see on stalking directory chap from starlight had to jump in and apologise when sc were being mobbed, maybe another reason though colin

colin lad
Which has PA im assuming ? yeah i did try it with my wtc but the eyepiece on it was 10mm smaller than my other 2 scopes and the brackets i got with my arrow were to fit them so i was having to hold it in place and it was not a real test tough i could see ok through it i wouldn't call it a credible test in any way colin
steve_b_wales
They told me they work best on a MTC Viper which has PA  In all fairness to them, they did say that to get the best out of it, a PA scope would be needed, as with 99% of all add on's. In the same boat at the minute , don't no weather to bite the bullet and go for the archer though as ive looked through plenty and no there quality , what has surprised me is the lack of posts about the arrow as its been about for a while now one things for sure after spending my hard earned £ something better will come on the market
colin lad
in the world of nv add on's there will always be something better coming just around the corner, they arrow has been out now for 6 months how many are for sale 2nd hand only seen a couple on flea bay both fetched what they cost new minus a couple of quid the photon 6 months after coming out had lots on the 2nd hand market colin

Heard stories, that its not up to much, but no first hand experience.

steve_b_wales
I know one person who has the Archer, and uses it on a non PA scope. Shooting fox size targets is no problem.
remmy1100
downside of the archer is its not waterproof which is strange for a item intended for outside use.

al4x
Lots of rumour and speculation on this with only one person with an arrow. I've an archer and never had a problem with it water wise though not sure how many nv setups are really made to get that wet. What I will say is it just works and to 200 yards plus and really that's as much as I need to be able to shoot. The 40 or so foxes I've shot so far this year with it have ranged from the easy to the really lamp shy so it lets you mop the ones up at this time of year that are a problem. The other side is no one knows you are out due to a lack of lamp and you can still sit in high seats through the winter after work when it's dark all the time. Starlight are a small company which gets them a bad reputation for customer service but as long as you realise it will happen at some point then you do get more backup than with most nv products. Certainly you won't end up with a pile of electrics if something breaks they will repair. The arrow is a new product and was slow out but that's just how things go
steve_b_wales
The ATN X sight looks okay. Especially as it can be used as a day scope with good magnification. If there are good reports about it, and good video demonstrations, not like the 18mtr tunnel video by Scott Country, then I would be very interested in purchasing one.
