andrew f
make a circle hide in the middle of the flight line and don't move to much
fenboy
Just build a hide as normal in the field , you do not need a hedge or tree to build a hide !
andrew f
didn't Jdog build one near a telegraph pole?
vinny123
All the fields are ploughed and the farmer is going to drill next week so I should build hide as normal in the field
The Essex Hunter
Hi I have just got a new permission which I visited this morning, the problem I have is there is absolutely no where to build a hide.there is no hedgerows or trees anywhere .what can I do Does it have ditches? Ones you won't drown in!! However the most important thing is...................... Are the birds feeding on what ever is in the field.....!!! If they are then find the line and make a field hide to suite your shooting, the foot paths and boundary's.... I use 2 x 5 mtr nets and 5 poles...it can be put up in less than 5 mins flat....Ask JDog... We don't fuss to much with it so long as the back cover is good and you sit still....... Plenty of ways around it as I am sure with the posts to follow...... vinny123
There are drains that run round the field not a single piece of vegetation. Never built in the middle of a field. Will it not stick out to much on fresh sown land. Sorry I think I am looking for a answer that is not too easy to answer
TIGHTCHOKE
Plant a few hawthorn sapplings in lines where you think the birds might wish to feed! Edited October 18, 2014 by TIGHTCHOKE

Cranfield
TEH has posted some excellent photo examples of what to do on an open field and as others have said, just put your hide up as normal in the open and if the birds want to be there, the hide won't put them off. vinny123
Ok thanks for all your thoughts when he has drilled the fields I will give it a go.
pigeon controller
If your concerned that they will see you , use a fishing brolly either tilted or on its side and drape hide material round it as long as you can work out the line across the field set up on that and you should have a good day as long as the birds are on the field. KFC
I use one of these cheapo green shelters. My box inside it and a lightweight camo net over it. I sit on a stool behind it then pop up when the birds are committed. As has been said, it's movement that matters. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Oakwood-Fishing-Shelter-Bivvy-Bag/dp/B006VSY8RQ/ref=sr_1_7/278-2498336-3042859?ie=UTF8&qid=1415797540&sr=8-7&keywords=fishing+tents+shelters
fieldwanderer
I made myself some guy lines, really makes a difference in the wind. I already had the pegs which are 13mm aluminium tube with a hole one end and cut at an angle the other to Form a point, about 8" long. I tied a loop of paracord through the hole and clipped a little carabiner to it then made a 10 foot length with the runners from tent guy lines that lock themselves and clipped the loop of it into the carabiner too. The other end has a small loop to go on the hide pole. Simpler than it sounds, cheap and really did make a big difference.
birdsallpl
Yes guy / guide ropes (confused now what they're called) are essential. Always have a couple in my bag for the wind side.
fieldwanderer
I've always known them as guy lines but I'm not going to try telling you that's the correct way because I may well be wrong. As long as people know what you mean, it doesn't really matter
