fenboy
I am currently helping renovate a house for my daughter , we have knocked a old pantry and small downstairs toilet into one to create a shower room with toilet and basin etc. its all complete apart from the waste pipe from the toilet , I have got the pipe through the wall and am intending to drop it down and break through an existing manhole. However when digging out down to the level i need I came across the old pipe and it had a plastic collar joining to the original pipe from the downstairs toilet (I had to re position the new one ) So I am thinking I can now just join up to this pipe and avoid breaking through the man hole and creating more work. The issue I have was the house was built in 1972 so I need a collar that will fit between the new 110mm pipe and the original clay / salt glaze pipe which seems to be 5 " O/D So does such a thing exist and if so were do I get one . mark@mbb
Many years ago a salt glazed plastic collar connected to a supasleeve plastic collar would fit onto 100mm plastic but the fittings are available of the shelf now in many forms

Yes and yes..just go to your local builders merchants and ask for a metric to imperial coupling. Are you sure the new pipe is 110mm though. ? Gamefarm
Any good builders merchant -Drain Center etc.... all sell flexible repair couplings for underground drainage to cover all common pipe diameters. Basically just a rubber sleeve with a coupleof stainless steel jubilee clips. Simples to fit.

figgy
As above a rubber coupler to go from clay to 110 soil pipe. A local drainage centre part of Wolsey group or even Jewsons stock a lot of this stuff. Figgy

chady
Put 10mm pea gravel around it. To allow for movement and to protect the coller if you need to get to it later. If you have no 10mm use building sand.

bobt
how do you rod any blockage on the pipe? it should go into the manhole.
chady
Depends on how far the manhole is away, the location of the manhole and so on there may be rodding points all ready installed.

fenboy
how do you rod any blockage on the pipe? it should go into the manhole. It will go into the man hole , I am joining to a existing pipe that goes through the manhole , it will be no different to what was there originally apart from some of the pipe will now be metric. chady
Ok mate to far from me if have come and given you a hand with it. But it's simple enough Depending on what fitting you have/get. Just get a file on the edger and form a slight shanfer on the edge. And put some fairy liquid on the pipe an it will slip into the connector easier. You can get pipe grease but don't bother with what you need it for. But you won't need to do the aboveon the rubber coller to the clay. Just the tight plastic conector/corners.
