miffy
I've been down south stalking and ended up shooting 5 Roe does and 2 Muntjac bucks. I didn't take too many photos and some of the ones that i have got are very graphic as i had to take head shots. I shot a Muntjac buck which would have been a good medal head if it had both antlers but unfortunately it had been in some sort of accident as one antler was missing, a tusk was broken and its rear leg joint was badly infected with the knee joint being about 3 times its normal size First Muntjac buck Injured Muntjac Close up of Injured Muntac And another A mornings work One of the Roe does about to be Prepped for the larder

Cheers paul Only shot the Big Muntjac buck from a highseat the rest were stalked, could have shot a few more Roe does but turned them down as i was after a fallow to bring back plus my mate had already got his Roe cull for the year. miffy
Nice trip by the looks of things and good shooting, you know you have put yourself up for the anti head shot group ,just look at my post 2 does in thirty seconds, well done and great piccys I have just been reading it again MM. I dont usually take head shots as i dont see the need but at times it has to be done as deer (or any other animal) dont always present themselves for the "perfect shot" of the 7 that i shot on this trip 2 were broadside and were shot heart/ lung. the medal Muntjac was shot through the shoulder blades with the bullet exiting through the sternum (I was in a highseat). 1 Roe was shot facing away and the shot entered the left hand side jhalf way along the body and the bullet exited through the front between both legs and 3 were head shots. when i pulled the trigger i was on a solid rest and was 150% sure of my own abilities and the bullet placement, had i been slightly unsure i would not have taken the shot. The entrance wound can be seen if you look close enough you can't get much more in the middle than that
deadeye ive
3 were head shots. when i pulled the trigger i was on a solid rest and was 150% sure of my own abilities and the bullet placement, had i been slightly unsure i would not have taken the shot. I have never shot a deer as you well know but I agree with what you are saying .............confidence in your equipment and ability beyond guestimation And as for the long range 250 yds + nocturnal Fox target .........................Practice makes perfect . Cheers Frank, The deer has now been butchered thanks to Dougy and the syndicate that i am in are havin a 'game tasting evening tomorrow night so i have donated the venison. Can't wait to try all the game tomorrow evening Well done Miffy, sounds like you had a great time. Cheers stirky and i certainly did Well done, now i know what a decent size muntjac looks like ! Looks better then the little ones i shot, but i am well pleased with them. Thanks H&H, the Muntjac are shot on sight where i shot last week and although his ground does produce a few medal heads this was the first one i have shot. It would have been shot regardless of antler size as trophies are not a priority. Glad you enjoy your Muntac stalking
