adi786
Hi GUys I was looking forward to buy some cartridges and came through Hull super fast 29g 6's are they any good? a dealer has 1000 left in which couple hundreds are fibre wad and left plastic. Three questions 1. is the cartridge quite good as compared to kent velocity or xpress clear pigeon , etc? 2. is there a massive difference between plastic/fibre? as i was thinking to buy 1000 from dealer but dont wanna buy couple hundreds of fibre if there's a lot performance/pattern etc difference? 3. Last the price am getting is around 190 for 1000 is it a good price or expensive?
casts_by_fly
They are good and kill well. It is a good all around cartridge for pigeons, pheasants, rabbits, etc. You won't do wrong picking up a thousand of them. I shoot fiber but have shot plastic in the past. No major differences at anything I've shot at but I haven't pushed them past 40 yards. I haven't bought any lately so I can't comment on that price, however before I paid £190/1k there, I'd see if you can get Proper cartridges locally as George has his 30g ultimate listed at £169/1k. Not a huge difference, but I'd take a free £20 if I could. I shoot his 20 gauge cartridges and am happy with them. Just reserved a second flat yesterday. thanks rick

fenboy
thanks the guy am buying from also has a lot of kent velocity 28/29g 6's for 168/1000 can't find much reviews on those cartridges. I have used both the superfast and the kent velocity and for me the superfast is a much better cartridge.
JDog
They are very poor cartridges but I will take them off your hands as I have run out.

adi786
mm that's totally a different feedback as of other people, which cartridges do you use then on pigeons? as per your feedback xpress clear pigeon and hull 29g aint good. Am here for advise as looking to get 1000 + some more steel shots etc in one go, which will last atleast 2 years for me. I do not want to spend more on these, as they be dire expensive, i was thinking to get some decent cartridges cost around 150-180 maybe, but again not sure what cartridges you guys use and how much do they come for, am quite new to it in a sense i recently got SGC so never bought cartridges on my own so no clue about prices and which one's are good/bad. norfolk dumpling
I don't normally have issues with recoil but have found Hull generally a little sharp if I get through a few. Almost black and blue after 50 shells at clays - these were 28g through my 20g and I normally use same load Gamebore w/o issues.

evo
can I just say, I,ve tried and still have the 29g hull superfast , I bought them off my shooting buddie as everyone was raving about them so I thought I would give them a try,my opinion is this,,firstly my gun could not get on with them as I could not get them to pattern very well, when I tried them on the pigeons and crows there was no difference at all from my normal pigeon shell( eley first 28g 7 1/2s) I have still got a slab here which I,ll get shut of to my shooting buddie as he tends to like them , if its pigeons your shooting all I can say is just get some 28g 7 1/2s and you will kill plenty, on a better note , if your looking for a cartridge that will stop crows and pigeons then I would certainly give Proper Cartridges 32g no 6s, I have had 4,000 of these in sizes from 4.5s 5.5s and now the 32g 6s. all I can say is that they are an excellent cartridge for the money and perform just as good as the black gold, and they have killed everything I,ve hit, you will save a packet also using them, only problem is at the moment they are only in plastic wad but I believe George(proper cartridges) had had his machine done so it will do fibre but I think that will commence in the new year, 7 1/2s for pigeons is all you need, put the shot in the right place and they will fall,,crows well I wouldn,t use anything smaller than 6s but prefer georges 4.5s or 5.5s regards the hull superfast , they are 29gram of hype, I personally don't rate them at all, if you would like another decent cart then go with proper carts you will save a fortune hope this helps atb Evo
adi786
thanks buddy, i did rang George yesterday he was busy@machine so couldn't talk to him, i am for sure gonna buy some for him to test, once happy will buy more, one more guy over forums told me same story about his cartridges, only reason i am not buying alot from him, as don't want to regret later on if something goes wrong, as the pattern etc also depends on gun/chokes you use. Am now thinking to buy some of 7 1/2 as well, as was thinking to buy some clay pigeon shells so why not buy 28g 7 1/2 which i can try on pigeons as well and for clay for sur ethey will work. How much eley first usually are?
evo
the eley firsts are £155 /1000 from our local gunshop, believe me they will stop pigeons no problem, it what I use most of the time, the 4.5s George makes are a proper crow stopper but I have been using his 32g 6s the last few outings and have been very impressed with them and at £189/1000 they are very good value for the money but as said only come in plastic wad atb Evo
Dunkield
Well I really rate them, I did read that Hull cut back on marketing them this time of year as people use them instead of their more expensive Game loads, the fact that E&S don't have any in kind of confirms that. Luckily I have plenty at home

Luckily I have plenty at home yeh quite few shops told me same i.e Hull manufactures out of season only, so the stock i'll get would be the last batch they've done. The other shop i've been looking forward to go, got only 750 plastic and 250 fibre left. You a bit far else might come down to grab some from you . Agree you're lucky, there's another shop who're doing a deal on these cartridges 174/1000 hull super fast, but he's 2 hours drive from me, doesn't worth. brett1985
I have used those superfasts for everything, even sporting clays, with good results. i have now moved to the 27gram fibre 7.5's for clays but still use the 6's for pigeon, crow and game. 190 seems a reasonable price. adi786
as some people mentioned they use 7 1/a 28g for pigeons as well am going to buy few of these as well to try, best was thinking to use them when pigeons be decoying well, if not would use 6's. All the 7 1/2 which are sold in shops are sold as clay shots am i right? As there isn't any knowng game 7 1/2?
Bluebarrels
7 1/2s are plenty of shell for decoyed birds as long as you keep the range sensible, anyone who says otherwise is talking carp BB
