Vince Green
Ed Milliband if he's got any sense, its the only way he can reduce their popularity. I agree though it could turn into a game of last man standing.
STOTTO
I believe that there will be far more defections to UKIP after the next election than before it!
ditchman
I believe that there will be far more defections to UKIP after the next election than before it! Thats an interesting statement....................i for one hadnt even thought of that..................it makes a lot of what could be described as sense... Zapp
I can understand the logic of one or two high profile defections, but if they are just going to load the party with ship-jumping existing professional politicians then their 'non political class party' street cred will be short lived. Depends on the people really. Rebellious backbench MPs defecting to UKIP probably won't change that reputation much, while more mainstream Conservatives and cabinet ministers would destroy their "anti-politics" support. Dick
Nige needs to be careful with defections pre or post election......we want change, too many from the mess we are in now would look like more of the same. I believe that UKIP will do well, relatively speaking, in the next general election, but are probably are targeting the next one to make a serious impact. Realistically the next Government will be either Labour or Conservative with some sort of coalition with somebody....from UKIP's perspective it probably doesn't matter which......look forward to another 4 years of nightmare. Vince Green
In the long term, defectors will irreparably damage their own personal credibility. Even if they get a few days of limelight when they jump, its too high a price to pay for a few days on the front pages.
