SEshooter
+1 for rob at orkney shooting holidays. Recently had a week up there with him, put us in the right spots for the greys and we shot an exceptional pond one evening. We have our week booked up for November 2015. He also sorted our accommodation for us, a 2 bed house for a great price.

RossEM
POLESTAR! Seriously, Raymond Shearer (runs the gun shop at the back of Shearer's in Kirkwall.) http://www.williamshearer.co.uk/ Or, there are several farmers that run B&Bs and will happily allow you to shoot on their land - I speak from experience. RossEM
I think even with the best preparation you can still blank. There are so many variables, even guides can get it wrong through no fault of their own. To be fair to Mr Frampton, I haven't met him so can't comment on his operation, but why would your mate use him three times if he consistently couldn't get you under the geese? Gooseman1982
Hi Ross My mate gave him the benefit of the doubt. He even went to cancel on my mate because he had important BASC guests going to shoot at the sametime and he wanted to look good for them. I agree with you Ross you can have blank days and bad days. My mate is no stranger to shooting and he was meant to guide them he would point to ware he wanted them to go and left them to it. I think even with the best preparation you can still blank. Spaniel
Only been the once and got to say rob works his backside off during the flights to ensure as much sport as possible Don't forget these are wild birds but to me if and when I go again it will be with rob

My mate is no stranger to shooting and he was meant to guide them he would point to ware he wanted them to go and left them to it. I think I'd be miffed enough after two trips. And that's no way to run a business, cancelling if double booked - your mate has a lot of patience! We usually stay with a mate of mine (Polestar) but his health isn't great, so we shoot on his land a bit, and the rest of the time just ask at farms where the geese are feeding. For instance, on our last trip we asked one farmer (sadly deceased, Eoin Scott) who had about 500 greylags on his stubble, and he literally said "of course, of course please do come and shoot them", and that's more or less what everyone says. You can always have a day's fishing on the Welcome Home if you have nothing on. We had a fantastic day on that boat, probably came home with £100 worth of fish for £30 cost of the trip. There's plenty of rabbits, snipe, hare, pheasant and some grouse if you can get permission for a roughshoot. And the trout fishing's free...then there's the neolithic sites, museums etc... Oldtoad
Hi, we had a cracking guide last year in Orkney called Brian, his number is in my game book which I can give you if you call me this evening at about 8:30pm - 07915 668232. That's the only time though as I'm off fowling on the wash tomorrow evening, wohooo!

As I said, I don't know Rob Frampton, so can't comment on his skills as a guide, I was just commenting on what the other poster said. I'm sure Mr Frampton knows his trade very well. As a side note, Orkney goose guides seem to be multiplying year on year. I know the greys are a pest there but they'll soon be shot out.
