Nmb
Was updating our shoot records today and wondered how everyone is getting on this season? We are exactly half way through our season and are sitting at, 19% pheasant 16% partridge 47% duck Birds are starting to look thin on the ground so we are really hoping for sustained cold weather to pull them back in! Oddman
Don't keep our figures myself but would estimate that after 5 days we're about the same as you Usually finish mid thirties on pheasant and 100+% on duck. Gave up on partridge a few years back they don't hold. Not bad for amateur keepering and no neighbouring shoots
Scully
From three outings on our rough shoot we have so far shot 64 birds from a total of 125 released, so over 50% so far. We have two neighbouring shoots (both small DIY shoots like ours although one is over a wide river) so end results could be over 100%. Last outings bag was almost halved so hopefully this cold weather will have them hitting the feeders.
ollie
We put out 100 pheasants and so far we have shot 36, so 36%. We have no neighbouring shoots, but some of the birds shot have been wild from previous years. I ringed the birds this year, but unfortunately the rings were slightly too big and some of them fell off the poults when they were younger. bodach
You are doing better than us with a 14% return on our pheasants, as said hope this cold snap pulls them back in way too much natural feed all around. B.

B. The cold snap should certainly help. It has been so mild this year that pheasants don't need to use the feeders.
Mr pigeon
We have no surrounding shoots, put down ex layer pheasant and partridge. They are at 22% and 10% respectively. We also put down young ducks and are at 34%. We have just had our best day of the season so I expect next two days to be great aswell! Only just over half way through our days so plenty of time to get the numbers right! Good luck all!
scolopax
10% on pheasants and 0% on partridges so far. Not much of a return for daily hand feeding on straw with wheat and cracked maize!!!! Only had two shoots, first was a warm up day and the last day was ruined by very strong winds, which pushed the birds in the wrong direction and kept those that did fly right too low as the hugged the ground. still lots of food going so hope to have a few decent days ahead. Partridges were a write off from the first week, 14 left out of 100 Redlegs released. Three buzzards found them on release, killed lots and scared the rest away, the few ones remaining are pretending to be pheasants and live on ten edge of a wood. Nmb
Some decent returns. We're shooting on Saturday so really hope the cold weather continues as we need our birds to hang out in the woods again! The guys that were out feeding on Sunday seen very few pheasants but lots of partridges so fingers crossed when I go out dogging in on Thursday I see more. Our other small syndicate on the other hand released 150 birds and after 2 shoots we have shot 67 so can't complain!
