robbiep
I might have read it rong then, let's go for weeks before its up then I think the Police are allowed a 'reasonable' time period to renew your certificate in. I believe this is 7 weeks. If you send in your application with 4 weeks to go, then you may find that your certificates expire, and you would have to lodge the firearms with an RFD (at your expense), or a friend with SGC, until the renewal comes through. steve_b_wales
I used to get a reminder around 8 weeks before mine was due for renewal. It's due next May, but I intend to send in my application in February. To be fair, South Wales police have always been good with renewal/variation times. Sian
Husband's is up for renewal March and they sent a reminder two weeks back and stated not to delay in responding. I think they asked to get it back to them within 21 days otherwise they would not guarantee renewal within the time frame. Did not ask for his licence. That's the Met Police. HDAV
No reason to send your cert none at all, all it does harrang you into not being able to buy or sell (this may be the reason they like it) during the renewal period but it has basis what so ever. The cert is yours until the day it expires or it is revoked! Edited December 24, 2014 by HDAV
