With three days to go before my official end of the month weigh in I can report that I have lost 7lbs which is what I was hoping to lose in three months. I now have to keep the weight off. Mentally I am on track, no chocolate or other sweeties and less alcohol, not that I was ever a boozer.

Ok this mornings weigh in: 14st 3.25lb, another 1.75lb gone, which under the circumstances i faced this week, i am very pleased with.

Overall weight lost 10.25lb

Next week, i am going to work hard at it as on 8.05pm next Friday i am falling off the wagon, and i will be enjoying my first beer of 2015 in front of the Wales v England game.

ok I,m 19.5st , I need to loose weight or fat if you like , I lift weights 3 or 4 times a week and have a fair amount of muscle mass.

over the years I have tried and tried again at cutting down on calories and using weights but it as not worked, I did wonder if I was actually eating enough , if that makes sense.

I don't mind being heavy but I do want rid of some fat and want to keep muscle gains , so how do I do it.

anyone follow a bodybuilding / weight lifting diet and as actually lost weight/fat with out loosing muscle and with out starving yourself.

thanks all

Darren,

You have a catch 22 - you want to lose weight but as you know, muscle weighs more than fat and you need to eat (particularly protein) to support that.

Losing weight isn't about just what you eat. Good cardio exercise will help as weights is naturally more strength related.

Try keeping a food diary and log your workouts. Go find a personal trainer who deals with nutrition as well (not all PT's are the same). Find one who know about food as well. Get them you review your diet etc and they can give you a plan as to lose weight without affecting your muscle mass (or starving you to the point of not functioning).

Like you said, it could be about not eating enough of the right food.

Good cardio exercise could be a spinning class or similar. Great cardio workout and good for getting your HR in the fat burning zone. If you aren't used to anything too strenuous then a free check up with a PT before embarking on anything you aren't used to.

You can achieve what you want but get some professional guidance.

Good luck.
