My latest creative item! Clay pigeon clock.

I was meaning to have a crack at one of these for quite some time now! I always had the intention of getting a few clays and having a go at putting one together!

Well today I popped up to Steve Smiths for a mooch and a coffee! I came home with 3 clays and made a start straight away!

Found the centre of the clay and put a small pilot hole through with a masonary drill bit! No hammer action of course! Then swiftly popped an 8mm bit in and repeated!

I then removed a movement from an old alarm clock I had sitting about and used a resin bond to adhere the movement into the clay!

Then I cut down a base from a 12g cart and ground it flat. That was bonded to the face of the clay. Then is was simply a case of attatching the hands, fitting a battery which brought me to this

I still have a way to go with it, I want to customise it with an inlay clock face and change the hands too. But for a 20 minute clart on I think it's gone rather well!

i think you have done great, how about gettting a larger round piece of wood like someone else did and use that for the clock face use 12 bore for "12 and 3 and 6 and 9" then maybe for

"1 2 4 5 7 8 10 and 11" say a smaller like 28 or 410 just a though :good:

I had seen that clock, but wanted to try and work with basic shooting materials if possible. The clay offered an opertunity to keep it in a single theme. I have an idea for a face, but the hands are going to be difficult. I can not buy the hands I want, so I will have to try and adapt a set.

I made one with an orange clay :)

Wanted to make one mounted on a board with a standard clay in the middle, with mini clays for 'numbers', but couldn't find a clock mehanism with long enough hands :(

Could probably 'upcycle' an old clock...

like I say, I want to keep it as simple as possible. I like the size for a desk rather that a wall. The hands are simply done using a pic from a sales page in the BASC magazine, that it trimmed out and cut into two differing lengths. Then glued onto a rigid plastic backing and resin over the top to seal it. When hardened, trim the hands and create the holes to fit the movement.

I was hopibg to find a set of shooting related clock hands on the internet, but may look at a 3D printed set instead. I have plans to have an orange clay on the end of the second hand passing OVER the shotgun barrel. I now have to come up with a pic + clock face for the centre!
