Smiler23
Funny how times alter around country, I was out this morning and couldn't see till about 7.20ish... In mornings watching that gmtv it's clear daylight in window behind them yet still black outside of ours..
casts_by_fly
smiler- whereabouts are you in the country? I'm probably half way between the northernmost and southernmost PWers in Yorkshire way. thanks rick
roostshooter1
Well here goes after arriving so called an hour late i waited for 20 mins before a pair of mallard came in and were both knocked down into the drink so i start to think this is going to be a very good morning when 15 minutes later my phone rings and im asked to come into work because the manager has gone home ill and they need an apointed person in charge so that was that until the next time but at least i managed a nice pair

marsh man
I have just arrived at the pond in hope of some wigeon at first light so will keep you informed as i go along thanks ben Your doing well getting Widgeon on your pond " roostshooter1", we have got six ponds and pits on our estate and we very rarely if ever get Widgeon coming in , maybe its because we have got a lot of marshland nearby that's left quite and with a fair bit of water laying about on the low areas which would be more of a attraction to Widgeon than going into a smallish pond...........Good luck on your next visit but try and get there before it gets light , or try a afternoon flight and you would then need to be there a good half a hour before its get dark. roostshooter1
Thanks marsh man the wigeon seem to stop at the pond on the way to the somerset levels which neither of us can understand because they turn up most mornings between 8 30 and 9 30 to feed on the apple and barley mix which leads me to beleive that they are being pushed off a nature reserve a couple miles down the road by dog walkers As for getting there before it gets light when i shot those 2 mallard this morning at 7 30 am it was only just light enough to see them at around 40 yards but the evening flights for teal are what i really enjoy i usually stay out till 7 pm in the winter to shoot teal thanks ben
pob
I aim to be in place, deeks out and settled by nautical twilight. Link here: http://astro.ukho.gov.uk/nao/miscellanea/bi_rst.html Possibly a bit early for some, but it's served me OK. I just can't seem to see anything on a late evening flight.
