NorfolkAYA
Any recommendations for a 28grm cart for side by side for vermin?. Regards Pete
evo
firstly what type of vermin
r1steele
Chamber size? Type of vermin? If you want to shoot crows/rabbits/squirrels and you have 2 3/4 inch chambers I would go for something like Kent velocity or Express pigeon power (size 6 shot). I know they are 29g as opposed to the 28g you were asking for but you won't notice the difference. A cheap cartridge that works well (in my guns anyway) and available in both plastic or fibre wads. If you're gun only has 2 /12 inch chambers then you are a bit more limited but I use Hull imperial game in mine, not the cheapest but by no means bank breaking. I use the 28g and the 30g in my old sxs hammer gun, which is extremely lightweight, and felt recoil isn't really distinguishable between them. Guest cookoff013
Any that goes bang. You are not married To any Shell. Either way you'll chop and change.
NorfolkAYA
Yeah 2 3/4 chamber. Yeah but I look to stick to one cartridge...personal preference. And mainly pigeon shooting
aga man
Trust Halcon 28gm # 6 shoot nice through the sxs and kill very well. Mine are 70mm and plas wad.[£45ish a slab]. To be fair most trap loads would do the job! Edited January 28, 2015 by aga man
The Beater
I was shooting a flight line with some old Gamebore Supergame HiBird 28g 6s today, very smooth and did a great job on some fast tricky birds with todays wind. No fun shooting heavy loads all day in a light gun.
evo
Yeah 2 3/4 chamber. Yeah but I look to stick to one cartridge...personal preference. And mainly pigeon shooting any 28gram 7 1/2s,,,,whatever is the cheapest, you should be able to get a 1000 for less than £150, they will kill pigeons perfectly, don't go paying silly prices for big named carts as your just wasting your money,,any 28 gram 7 1/2 clay cart will do
littlerob
Any clay load will do the job on vermim to about 30yards but a nice soft cartridge in a sxs I found was eley impax 28g in
Alycidon
Impax 6s. I do have a friend who uses Black Gold 7.5s to good effect in his AYA No 4, there was a vid here a couple of weeks ago of a bloke with a pair of Mirokus doing some severe damage to high pheasants with this cartridge. Fast and patterns superbly in his guns. A Edited February 2, 2015 by Alycidon
Floating Chamber
My eyes are failing in old age; I read the title as 'cartridges for sex'.
Salop Matt
Lyvale express supreme game in a 5 did nice on the pheasants on saturday for me. My first time using them, but 32gram in a 30inch sporter was very smooth so for my new side-by-side I will be trying a slab of 28gram 5` from LE Supreame game range to start off. Ive always used 6`s before (mainly clear pigeon for pigeon) but hopefully the 5`s will be more effective on bolting bunnys and crows when walking round and roost shooting. Also any very close bolted fox I would be happier with 5`s over 6`s. Or a cheaper option would be 30gram fibre pigeon special`s from LE at £30 a 1000 cheaper than Supreame Game, but a slab lasts me a year for walking round and rough so on a slab the difference is a tenner at most. pat g
Although by no means the cheapest, but i found Hull Imperial Game 28gr 6's to be the smoothest shooting cartridge by far when i had my SBS. My shooting buddy uses nothing else in his SBS now. Like i say not cheap though ATB, Pat

Spaniel
I used 7s white gold in mine clean kill on a pigeon and a woodcock think these were 28 grams in my sxs
Guest cookoff013
Try hushpower loads. These light guns were never ever designed to shoot 1,1/8oz at 1400 to 1500 fps.
