Edwin E
I'm lucky enough to have a 2,500 acre farming estate in Lincolnshire to shoot on but the problem is that the estate (and the very large farms around it) grow thousands of acres of crops especially rape, and getting a decent day's decoying going is nigh impossible. I just wondered if anyone else faces the same problem and how you get around it? Because of the twenty or thirty small copses and woods on the estate and some much larger woods there isn't a single reliable flight line, any suggestions would be very welcome. P.S. I'm in the market for a cheap but reliable silenced 410 if anyone nearby has one to sell.
JDog
Just read through some of the back posts with 'frustration' in the title. You will see that there are lots in the same boat.

kyska
Tough as at this time of year. Don't worry it'll pick up.

Occasionally you get a lucky break - chopped maize cover with good food supply, 1st drilling or harvest in the area. Generally, think that any shooting is better than No shooting!! The more help you can get from the farmer and the less competition from other shooters the better. I'm not lucky on either score....
pigeon controller
We have large areas of rape that are very difficult to decoy due the the surface area of the localised rape. They just hedge hop to the next field. As the weather warms up they will split in to smaller groups and be more mobile and attracted to decoys. If they roost within your permission you can roost shoot and also decoy as they come out in the morning. You will have to move as you spook them let them feed for an hour or so then decoy the field. Good luck in your quest
Edwin E
Thanks everyone for the helpful tips, it looks as though most people have the same problem................. I'll try taking less kit and be prepared to move around far more than I have so far.
dead eye alan
Best to get some mates in on a windy day to keep them on the move, rope banger's or flags in areas not covered by guns. Takes a bit of organizing but could be bumper red letter day.

Takes a bit of organizing but could be bumper red letter day. Tried that this week, we covered 2 farms but there's always ONE more farm you don't have permission on. I could see 100's stuffing themselves a mile away, we got 14 between us. NB The other farm keeps the shooting for themselves but it seems they have to work (4-letter word), so Mon-Fri it is a sanctuary, but many of my mates can't shoot weekends (family stuff!!)
