loriusgarrulus
When I had my old Defender I used to have it waxoyled regularly. I am thinking of getting the Wolf a good clean and rust proofing treatment. I have heard Dinitrol treatment is supposed to be very good now. Is Dinitrol better than Waxoyl or are there any other good products around too. It will have to go to somewhere to have it done. Can anyone reccomend a complete rust proofing treatment and anywhere that is reliable to do it around Cheshire or nearby Counties.
drut
I believe Dinitrol to be superior to the present incarnation of Waxoyl, before I retired I used to favour 3M cavity wax(Amber) but I don;t think it is currently available. andypaint
You are correct in thinking that waxoil is rubbish. Its messy, runs off in summer and makes working underneath a nightmare. Dinitrol very good but you need to use 3125 first then go over with 4941/car to give a tough finish. It will work out quite expensive as there are so many places to put 3125 such as inside the sills, all the wheel arches, around fuel tank, behind front wings and all the floor pan and chassis. You will probably need half a dozen. If you don't mind alot of preparation to the vehicle the epoxy primer or por-15 are the best coatings to use, but not always suitable do to time and effort needed to prepare. jonny thomas
3m cavity wax good stuff but you're going to get covered in it if you work on anything you spray with it I think you can get it in a spray can
loriusgarrulus
I would like to take the Landy somewhere and get someone reliable to do it for me. I never got beyond how to change a tyre, and top up oil and water. Dismantling a Defender to rust treat it is a bit beyond that.
jonny thomas
I dont know that you would need to dismantle much good wax treatments penetrate if you're going to have it throughly treated be warned it will stink for a few weeks- month
explore
Use waxoyl on my Defenders, reapply it every two years, seems to work ok for me, messy job though & smells for a couple of weeks.

figgy
If you do go to Lincoln try the Electric Bar and Grill for a nice meal. I use under seal in a spray can and lash it everywhere underneath apart from exhaust.

lister1
If you wait till September you could leave ya defender and have 2 days wildfowling on the wash!
loriusgarrulus
Thanks for the offer, but wildfowling is not my thing. Prefer the mud to be no more than ankle deep.

lister1
Thanks for the offer, but wildfowling is not my thing. Prefer the mud to be no more than ankle deep. It's not all mud and gunge, some parts are more like a grass field. Ps I normally use waxoyl seems to do the job. andypaint
Found this review. It also has a link to exterior wax review as well. http://www.classicsmonthly.com/2012/11/05/cavity-waxes-on-test/ The second one on the list is the dinitrol 3125 I mentioned previously, rustbuster just rebrand It If you refer to my previous post and get the two dinitrol products you can use a local garage with a ramp and compressor. Just make sure it's 100% dry before application.
