fog horn
Good evening folks Im just getting my other half into airgun shooting, Has anyone got any good gun recommendations? im looking to get her a .177 and thinking of a Air Arms S410, the gun will be secondhand as I don't want to spend loads to get her started! I would like a decent shot count but a little unsure what the S410 is like on that score? Any help would be great Cheers people
bruno22rf
About 70 shots per fill of 170bar (classic) -dont bother going any higher pressure wise cos you loose consistency over the first 10 or so shots-brilliant guns btw-accurate as anything on the market-feel a bit dead to shoot but you will pay a lot more money to get anything that will outshoot it in the field. oliver90owner
Choices! Pump or bottle recharging? That prolly means you or her! 22 are easier on air compared with 177. Regulated will give you more shots cf unregulated. 177 is flatter trajectory than 22, so depends on range, type of target. 177 is thus likely the better choice for a starter (less need to account for drop over time/distance). Target or live quarry? Like I say, lots of choices! s410 is a good choice. Resale value can be good if bought at the right price, accuracy with a scope is enhanced (well, just as good without - it is generally down to the aimer!) and they are a popular choice by many. Then there is carbine versus classic. Air consumption might be a consideration, again. Just as handling, etc. Pellet cost might be another facet. 177 are cheaper than 22 in all comparisons of like supplier. Choices, choices and more choices! I might just say 'bite the bullet' and get 'er one and see how it goes. Investment is relatively high, but resale loss may not be so great, if a popular format is chosen and bought at the right price. The s410 is a good choice all ways round, whether a starter or progression. Likely only Evo would disagree with that (I am a Daystate fan as well, btw). Good luck with your decision. I sympathise with your (minor) problem! RAB

RAB sorry but I totally agree,,the Air Arms s410 is a superb rifle, I had one until I bought the daystates then I realised the difference in quality and have never looked back, but the s410 is a cracking rifle
Joshcup11
Id like to reccomend a Hatsan AT44. My first gun and is still in the cabinet! Never had a fault with it! GOod shot count and the accuracy will match a S410 for a fraction of the price! Also available in composite so much easier to clean and less prone to scratches, not sure on the resale value as it hasnt even come into my mind about selling! The standard Mod is great and very quiet! Would highly reccomend! Josh
loriusgarrulus
Whatever make you get. If your other half wants to try competition shooting it needs to be 177. Edited March 15, 2015 by loriusgarrulus
