adi786
Hi, can you store a shotgun barrel outside cabinet while the other part (complete mechanism) in cabinet?
Carman06
I would have thought the barrel is a controlled part.

robbiep
Technically ... Yes, you can. Probably. It all depends on how you read the law, no idea if it's ever been tested in a courtroom. But if you got broken into, and the barrels got stolen as they were out of the cabinet ... not somewhere I'd really want to be.

r1steele
You don't legally need to store any part of your gun in a cabinet, the law only requires it to be stored securely.
southeastpete
When I chatted to the police when getting my licence, I asked what you would do if for instance stopping for petrol with the gun in the car. He said I should take it apart and take the action with me as that is the controlled part.
MrDaveO84
I asked the same question and my feo said take the fore end off and put it in your pocket...not sure I would want to take a shotgun action into a shop unless you have it in a bag or something

Also to dry fire it before hand.
adi786
my FEO advised me, first park it somewhere where it's not too far and visible while you doing your stuff or, take mechanism in a bag etc where it is not visible to others (as it'll scare them)...
