30-6
How often do you need to clean a firearms (.22 rimfire) moderator? What happens if they are not cleaned?

Hodmedod.one
How often do you need to clean a firearms (.22 rimfire) moderator? What happens if they are not cleaned? The amount of crud that builds up in .22 rimmy moderators is amazing. I clean mine out every few months. Sometimes its got so much muck in it that its difficult to get the baffle cones out. I only ever use eley ammo, but I am sure its no dirtier than any of the other brands.
Frank
Iv had mine for 1 & a 1/2 years now on my rimmy and have never cleaned it. Does it effect the sound reducing abbility if not cleaned? Thanks, Frank.

markbivvy
strip and clean a sak, then put it back on a 17 hmr and you can see and hear the difference. until it fouls up again.

Hunter
cleaned it once, after I saw the greenish lead come out of it in hot water. I never did it again. My health is worth more then £30, I will get a new one in several years time. Also dont like pouring the leaded water anywhere.. its toxic. The baffle is well leaded in and will never come out
