Stacker Shepherd
Had been tasked by the Mrs to get a blackboard for the kitchen as she never knows when im away shooting etc. So I had a look online and saw a couple I liked, but didn't like the price tag that went with them. So with this in mind I went up my local wood yard and picked up a few bits of wood totaling £35. 2.4m 50x15mm Bull nose 2.4m 95x12mm Bull nose 2.4m 15x12mm Similar to Lambs tongue style strip 2.4m 75mm Dado rail 4x4' 12mm Hardwood Ply I had all the paints from previous apart from the blackboard paint which i picked up for less than a fiver for the small tin. Slapped it all together with a bag of 20mm screws and fine pins, counter sunk and filled the heads with fine filler, sanded back and undercoated, painted it with colour (which is farrow and ball No26 Downpipe), masked a little border and painted the black. Screwed some hooks on and hung it on brass fittings hidden on back (quite heavy duty but very flat so it hangs flat). Regards SS Screw heads after counter sunk and filled I had planned to have 31 black squares and a large panel to plan the month and write general info in but in the end decided it looked better completely black. She liked it . Edited May 26, 2015 by Stacker Shepherd

LancsLad45
Really nice. I'm just surprised you've found a flat wall. Or did you pack it out at the back to stop the chalk rolling off the shelf, lol.
