fishybarney
Im in the throws of moving house and need to obviously move my cabinets. My question is it ok to locate gun cabinets in a garage. The garage is detached from the house. Cheers for any info
Duckandswing
When I asked my FEO he said it was a big no no as the cabinet needed to be fixed to the structure of the occupied dwelling. Plus, garages are cold and sometimes damp which could play havoc with your guns.
HDAV
Read the guidance document in short a detached garage is an out building, cabinet in an outbuilding is a no no

Enzo
My last house had one of the cabinets in the garage. It was attached to the house though. FEO just gave the quick once over and all was fine. It was bolted to the outside wall and into concrete floor.
steve_b_wales
If the garage has an alarm fitted, then it should be okay. Best check with your FEO.
Newbie to this
Hi everyone Not sure if this is the right place for this question. I'm new to shooting and am about to start an application for a FAC but have limited space for a cabinet, the only spot I can see is in a bedroom on a chimney breast (brick built), would this be an acceptable location? I dont want to start an application and buy a cabinet for the FEO to say can't go either in a bedroom or on a chimney breast. Thanks in advance

HDAV
Bedroom no issue at all and as long as securely fixed to the fabric of the building should be fine. In a corner is ideal as it limits access to the side but not a necessity
