deadeyedick
Was out after woodcock a short while ago. When shooting a an area of thick bramble, my hound came out with her eyes closed. I though she had been blinded for a minute, but was releaved, when, after a while, she opened them. However shortly afterwards blood started to poor out of her nose (literally pints of it!) Knowing the noses usually bleed loads, I wasn't too worried. I rushed her into the vet. I turns ou that she has a bramble lodged right up her nose, close to the brain. So far she has been operated on 3 times. All failing to get the damn thing out. Shes back home for now - hoping that the thing will come out some way or another! Doesn't look to good for her at the moment though.

new to the flock
Deadeyedick: Horrid accident! Do you have a Veterinary College near you? These facilities usually have more resources available to them than your local vets. Well worth checking into. Hoping that she recovers quickly, and you are both back into the feild soon. Teal
Sorry to hear it mate. Hope she picks up soon. I remember the time our lab got tapped on the nose by a beater accidently all was ok and then about 2 minutes later she dropped down, she was 10 at the time and we all thought she'd had a heart attack and was going to die, someone there had seen this before and after 10 minutes she was right as rain. I guess the nose is just very sensitive.
