wigeon jim
It looks like a powder that will get us by till Alliant Steel is available, I tried a 36 gram load in a fiochie 3" with a RTO and get 1500 fps, Clay and game has proof house tests that show it produces low pressures , Jim. MAB1954
I'm not sure what is happening here Clay & Game 36 gram steel data has a mean velocity of about 1330 fps thus I did not bother with this powder. Has anyone put these 1500 fps loads to proof house for pressure testing.
wigeon jim
Not tested yet, Clay and game 36 gram load only has 513 bar, Jim.
fenboy
Still no Alliant available then ? fortunately I have enough to last the coming season.
MAB1954
I'm in luck to, I now have enough Steel and Blue Dot to keep me going with loads I trust. Just hope this SSB - 150 works out OK for you guys.
fenboy
If I could genuinely load 1500 fps loads with it I would be very tempted at trying it as its much cheaper than Alliant steel .
theinvicta
1500fps can be easily achieved, but I cannot confirm the pressure in these loads. If anyone wants to get them proofed, just pm me for the load details or chrono results. Out of the two weights that I tested (35gm & 36gm), the 35gm had the most consistent results. I've only tested these 3" loads in my SBE2, so in 3" chambered guns, use at your own risk.
roughshooter
If you want a consistant European powder in 12g then look to the Vihtavouri powders. I have tested steel loads from 3" to 3 1/2" in 12g with good results
wigeon jim
Vit powders are far to expensive for me, was quoted £80 per kg, Jim.

hifly
I have loaded a 43 grain alliant steel load with 39 grams of steel B in a 3 1/2 inch 12 bore cheddite case and have had consistant results at pattern plate and geese with half choke and moderate recoil, but now running out of alliant steel so looking for a diffrent powder, lack of good powder and the shortage of 10 bore cartridges is like a conspiracy against wildfowling in this season.
