Don't think its so much snobbery-if the OP wants something nice to use, something that's well balanced and carries a certain finesse then an English gun from the early part of the last century ( when we made the finest guns in the world-and had the skills and industry to make them en mass) is certainly worth considering. If something of a more rugged construction that can be thrown around in the back of the car or treated more or less as a tool is acceptable then guns such as some Zabala's would be more suitable-there is, in my opinion, nothing wrong whatsoever with the Zabala guns-they do exactly what they are supposed to do.

Something nice I have a William Powell sidelock in 20bore ejector myself which cost a arm and a leg but I don't come on here running other peoples choice for guns down it just seems to some people that if you have not got a berrata your gun is rubbish.I also have a hatson semi and armsan 620 semi the reason I brought them is because they do the job and if the get broken no hardship

I agree with the sentiment of not having to have the best of everything and nothing makes me smile more on a clay ground than someone with an old or cheaper end gun beating the DT10 and Perazzi boys with matching hats and skeet vests.

However I will say that buying a good used beretta in a private sale is highly unlikely to lose any money at all,

My choice for a SXS for the OP would be AYA or ugartechea, again bought sensibly no money will be lost at the time of selling

Well thanks for all the advice on this it helped me a lot.

In the end the AYA didn't come up to the eye well for me but they did have a nice Gunmark Kestrel ejector with 27" barrels so I bought that instead its tight on the face and the wood work is virtually unmarked. 1/4 and 1/2 choked so ideal for pigeon bashing and the odd spot of clays/

Hi a customer of mine asked me to look at them, they are un-fired in original boxes, they will be be for sale in Trulock and Harris Suffolk unless you want to make an offer on them I can put u in touch with the seller, they were his dad's and he has had them since early 70's, I would imagine 3.5-4k will buy them
