hoggysreels
Tried looking for the above at the usual places online. None list the extractor .. anyone aware of who might have the part in stock? I'm actually not convinced its the actual extractor at fault. Im not sure of the length of a new extractor .. "problem is the extractor is not lifting cartridges as much as it should" .. l can actually grasp the extractor and pull it out a further 4-5mm lts not a major issue, used it yesterday and it was fine. Maybe l'm being pernickity, just would like it to function as best as is possible .. Edited July 16, 2015 by hoggysreels
Bluebarrels
Have you tried Chambers BB https://www.gunspares.co.uk/shopdisplayproducts.asp?page=1&id=&Search=Yes&sppp=50 E1005 E1006 E1007 First page, not cheap though and require fitting, that's if there the right ones for your gun BB Edited July 16, 2015 by Bluebarrels
Gunman
ASI will probably have them but they will need fitting chambering and rimming . Could be that the leg end has worn or that the cam is worn .Both need to be checked before you do anything .
hoggysreels
Cheers BB .. think they're different to what lm looking for .. mine is a single forged extractor. Held in by a simple grub screw and out it comes .. thought it might have worn a bit, hence its reluctance to push the cartridges out fully. Still functions okay. There is a small lever type part in the forend that pushes the extractor. Wondering if its that or the extractor. I put a small piece of metal in the extractor channel and with that bit more length it fully push the extractor to its maximum opening .. ditchman
sounds to me it is a lot of wear over the years...or something has broken off....rather than buying a new extractor and having it fitted....surely couldnt you take it to a gunsmith and ask them to build it up................if you know what it is and what you want ...there is less likelyhood of been "turned over" PS there are a lot of good gunsmiths about....that would be only too pleased to help you.....but be aware there are a few "tuck up merchants".....i would trust some of the boys on here to do it....as i think working on that would not comprimise the proof.... "" Thats what l think ditchy .. was thinking of building up the end with weld. And repro-filling it to suit. Was going to neasure overhaul length and increase it by 5mm and see were that leaves me. I can gradually reduce the length if need be. Its a great workhorse and will out last me, thats for sure .. l thought l'd enquire about a replacement extractor, seeing as that woukd be the easiest, but l don't mind a bit of fabrication .. cheers all. subsonicnat
If You do Build it up you will need some casemite to harden it, too soft just weld.. but yes it should work for a good while once fixed..

demonwolf444
If you don't mind a bit of fabrication measure it, for the sake of explaination lets say the extractor rod is 4mm diameter. Then get a bit of 4mm diameter mild steel rod off ebay, cut the existing rod off, center punch where the existing rod was and drill it out to tap to M3, die the end of the new rod to M3, screw them together with some loctite, then install the rod, cut it to length and mark the extremities for each end of the flat for the grub screw file in the flat, then just clean up polish grease and install. Nice hour in the workshop. Alternatively wabbitbosher on here has a good spares box!
mellors
Just done mine last month. rang asi 2 main springs 2 firing pins 2 extractors 2 oversize hinge pins £100.like a new gun now. hardest job was the hinge pins had to heat up the action then press them in in the vice. you will probably find biggest problem is the hinge pins I had large gap between face and cartridge. causing miss fires and not ejecting every time. Gunman
I think we are talking two different guns here . The gun in question is a boxlock side by side not an O/U , unless I have got it wrong . Edited July 18, 2015 by Gunman
Andy H
i did my Zabala last year , Extended with weld and reprofiled then heat and harden with casenit. Edited July 18, 2015 by Andy H
ChrisAsh
4mm then what makes you think its the extractor its hardly likely to have shrunk or lost a end witheout being obvious, so would imaging its a fault in the extractor opening drive, so take it to a gunsmith and get them to pull it apart, maybe just a internal spring broken that pushes the extractor
hoggysreels
There is no spring .. its a very basic design. Its a simlpe push rod extractor.
